What if all of those crazy card effect that enable lots of special summoning, negate, destroy, banish, ftk combo is actually because konami didn't read the card effect and they just made it all up in their playtesting? Imagine if thunder dragon colossus "cannot add cards to hand except draw phase" effect was made because the thunder dragon testers just impatient to wait for the other testers to finish the combo

Even when you know the game has gotten wild. You start to realize how many areas its gotten wild in while teaching them. "Theres three types of cards, monster, spell, and trap. Well theres a card now thats both monster and spell but we wont get into that yet." "In your Main Phase, you can only normal summon once, well unless you have an effect that lets you do it more than once." "You can only use spell cards in your main phases, unless your spell cards activate in another phase. You can't use spells on your opponents turn though, unless its like a quick-play or something." "Traps are meant to trick your opponent on their turn, but some you can activate on your turn anyway." "All used cards go to the graveyard, they can also be banished, but not even I really do too much of that."

Yeah the game was ruined after pedulums, synchos and xyzs were kinda okay. And now its so old that almost every archtype has a chains to revolve cards from graveyard effects and special summon effects and just overkill to hopefully end up with a op card that destroys everything/cant even be destroyed in battle/any card effects/ negate effects/ traps or spells. Then has an effect if it does die to loop it all over again, or even attacks and special summoms mid attack step and ends up attacking again for a 1 turn win. Pretty much any meta deck is trying to be that. So kinda ruined the fun unless you get a lucky hand and can counter right away

@@GLOSSz I dont think its a bad thing. The game is evolving and thats good. Konami just dont interact and talk enough to the players ... Its not rly balanced because of that, i mean they just have to sit down and really go over ALL cards and combs to see what REALLY have to be banned.

But still I have such good memories from way back and really just want this game to thrive, so I feel grateful knowing there's guys like you who keep the spirit of Yu-Gi-Oh! alive. Sorry for the geezer rant, just wanted to show some appreciation ✌️

I've learned that the best way of learning to play almost any TCG is to learn with someone else who doesn't know how to play, then you bounce off the learning and theorizing from each other until you somewhat know how to play. This way both players will have the sense of discovery and awe of getting better, even if you both make mistakes and misunderstand the rules, you'll get engaged with the game and have some basic level understanding before someone spoon feeds you the latest rules and tournament builds. THEN, you start to learn with people who know how to play and actually learn how to play.

0:29 I am able to requote this strictly from memory. "Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, egyptian kings played a game of great and terrible power. But these Shadow Games erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world until a brave and powerful pharaoh locked the magic away. Imprisoning it within the mystical Millennium Items. Now, five thousand years later, a boy named Yugi unlocks the secret of the Millennium Puzzle! He has been infused in ancient magical energies, for destiny has chosen him to defend the world from the return of the Shadow Games, just as the brave pharaoh did, five thousand years ago... "

Video idea : play a tournament or 1v1 with made up cards. Cut cards from paper or cardboard the size of normal cards and then write the name and effect of them. Dont make them too op and dont make them able to do masive combos. Try and keep it yugioh duel monsters style. Hope you like it, much love.

Depending on how much in a hurry he is, I've found it to be the easiest way to teach them the game from the beginning. Kind of like the history of yu-gi-oh series. You start with LOB and than slowly make your way up to the latest set. That way he won't be overwhelmed

The most complex thing I remember doing back in the day was sacrificing a light and dark monster from the GY for Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. xD
