When my parents first started dating, my mom's mom had a German Shepherd named Lesile. At first, she wouldn't let my parents sit together because she was being protective of my mom. Eventually, though, she'd try to keep them apart because she wanted all my dad's attention for herself.

My husband had a shi tzu and mini long-haired dachshund when we started dating. He got them with his ex-wife, so they were none too impressed with Mommy being gone and this strange lady in their house. It didn't help that I had never been around small dogs in my life (grew up on a farm, so everyone including us always had some large breed mutt), so I didn't really understand their behaviour. Didn't take long to get over that, though. The dogs did later go live with the ex-wife but I got to see them every other week when picking up my stepson. 🥰 They didn't get _quite_ as excited to see me as my husband, understandably, but it was still pretty great.

Yea, cannot have a cat around 24/7, need some space. But dogs? Smothering appreciated. Will take “bring your shadow” as a back up.

My best girl fell completely in love with my then-boyfriend. I had a special ring set up for his calls and when the phone rang, she went nuts. Ran to the window and waited for his car. After he arrived, she just monopolized him and completely ignored me. But it was all just fine. For the first time in my life, I had a "family." We all three loved each other very much.

I remember the love of my life, my cat Budweiser, when I was a young woman. I had a boyfriend who would come over sometimes and we'd sit on the couch and watch TV. But when we went to kiss, Budweiser was seated on the back of the couch and would stick his head in the middle so I kissed one side and my boyfriend kissed the other side of Budweiser's face. LOL! It was Budweiser who got ALL the kisses.

my cats thought my now husband was their boyfriend. I'm ok with it tho, his dog thought I was his girlfriend and began sleeping right next to me. in turn he became my midnight snack partner and loyal defender. yup, he championed social distancing before that even became a thing. I really miss him

I love people who kiss their dogs like they're their babies. I can't help but love them because they're my peeps.

This is why I even consider getting a dog; having something be that happy to see me.

My ex lives next door to me, and we are still really good friends. To this day, as soon as his dog sees me, all bets are off. He will only listen to me. He will push him away if he tries to sit by me. He even wraps himself around me if anyone gets up and walks in my direction. He will sit outside my side door until he hears a noise in the garage, then he goes nuts. He's learned how to open doors to be able to come visit. If he's ever missing, my house is the first place my ex checks. 😂😂 I have to say I love it because I know I'm always protected by both of them.

My bf wasnt a dog person and was unsure how to interact with my dog. I told him to just bring a treat every time he came over. She loved him too. After she passed he carried on the tradition and brings me snacks too

Dog spelled backward is God for a reason.

I experienced that with my girlfriend's cat. Amongst other things, I was the only one who could pick her up without her complaining, she didn't give that privilege to anyone else in the entire family.

A boyfriend that loves your dog and your dog loves him, I would keep that man. Dogs see a true heart.

The same with his bestie dog friend, Morrie is fine for the first day but when Diesel stays over it’s hilarious watching Morrie claim his spot on the bed. Morrie is 95lbs & long legged while Diesel is a small mini-dachshund!

in a world that is full of so much hate, crime and s#*@ this is so relaxing to see and it just warms my heart. For just a moment I forget about everything going on and I can focus on all of this love. And I can't wait to get home to my little character of a cat, Baby, she loves to fetch with her fuzzy pink balls that Santa (yes that's right Santa) brings her every Christmas. :-)

@@doolally1478 Sadie is a Sheppard and Husky mix. Her mom is the husky and her dad was a Sheppard. She looks like both breeds (meaning fur color), has own blue eye and one brown eye... Talks like a husky (ALL the time lol).. is furry like a husky. She's my sassy girl who loves to talk back 😂

I had Terry a mutt (so many breeds the vet couldn't name them) well when that bug hit her she loved to dig to go under the 5 foot chain-link fence. LOL I had to dig 2 feet down and put concrete in the trench to keep her in.. My little escape artist who could warm a ice burg...

The bully breeds are spectacular pets. Total lovers.

My pitbull always grawls whenever any of the couples in the family (my mom/stepdad, my brothers/sisters-in-law, and my stepsister/her boyfriend) are at all affectionate with one another. And we always laugh whenever she does this because it's her way of saying "hey, these people (my stepdad, brothers, and stepsister) are mine, not yours. Keep your hands off".
