The upside down goldfish always got me too. I'm sure the entry-level job was just taking dead stuff out of aquariums at pet stores.

Been walking past a sun conure who has been at petco for several months now. I feel so bad for her (or him). Hardly any toys, feathers are absolutely destroyed and possibly plucking, all seed diet, total isolation apart from cage cleanings. Like how do they get away with keeping animals the way they do without getting shut down.

Omg the inner voice is so true. I recently saw them cohabiting cresties and bearded dragons in extremely small enclosures 😢

I hate going into these places. No animal (reptile, mammal, etc.) belongs in a cage they should be in the wild were they can have some quality of life, not in a cage existing just to be a center piece or something cute for us humans to look at/play with when it suits us only. It completely breaks my heart seeing these cute creatures just laying around because they've been taken out of their natural habitats so life isn't interesting for them anymore and they just lay around in their cage basically waiting to die. I will never buy another reptile, ferret, etc. anything that has to be caged because I feel it is inhumane and they have no quality of life living that way, this just me. I know there are a lot of people who love animals, are great pet parents/owners that give them great lives and will want to continue owning them and that's okay it's just not for me anymore. Also when they pass away it breaks my heart from being so attached to the animal and dealing with their loss is just too hard on me. I hope anyone/everyone that reads this has a beautiful and very blessed day/night. 🩵🩵🩵
