I had trouble getting one out foe over an hour, and you can bet I threw those puppies away and turned down every "oh these new ones are better than the ones you were perfectly comfortable wearing" to the point I so not wear contacts any more. I even took out the overnight ones to give my eyes breaks and to clean them with solution. As painful as the last ones were, I can't imagine how anyone could go that long not taking them out.

No joke, Ben better make sure he hydrates the patient’s eyes before taking out those contacts. When I was new to contacts and on accutane at band camp during a VERY hot summer, I took mine out and ripped off huge chunks of my corneas. I wore contacts for 25 yrs. I Always took them out at night and let them soak and clean so they were ready for the next day. I never wanted to mess with my eyes so I was diligent. I knew people who never took their contacts out or cleaned them. You could literally see the calcium deposits on the contacts when looking them in the eye. Sometimes the contacts became discolored. People take stupid risks when they don’t take proper care of their contact lenses.

And this is why I have daily disposables…plus they are so comfy. I can’t even feel them in, but if I accidentally nap with them, my vision gets blurry. The optometrist said your vision gets worse when eyes are deprived from oxygen. This happens when you close your eyes and when you have contacts. Eyes need to breath too!!!

  • @valkyriepolish7383

When I first began wearing contacts, disposables didn’t exist. There were only gas permeable or soft contacts that had to last an entire year. They were so expensive. If I tore one, I’d be in huge trouble. So I took such great care of my contacts. It was a huge blessing when disposables finally came around.

And even after multiple abscessed teeth, more than 20 kidney stones, two broken vertebrae as one of many injuries sustained when someone tried to beat me to death with a skateboard, and all manner of normal clumsy person injuries, it is still the most painful thing I've ever experienced. OR If it's a patient who wear CL, they should know that they are managing CL themselves, it's their own responsibility to take care of themselves, aft one knows the precautions of CL from the professionals. Moral of the story: If one doesn't learn how to take care of themselves, instead blame others for the mishaps, one will never be able to take care of others. 😮‍💨 I'm a student learning in this optometry industry. So true and relatable. I’m an optician and I would see patients who would leave after their contact fit with the Doctor and not come back till 8-10 months later to buy contacts because they were still wearing the same trials from the appointment. One guy that did that came in for a “foreign body” appointment because he thought he had a contact lens stuck in his eye. Doctors like “ no you have a corneal ulcer.” Some people are just not responsible enough to put something in their eyes. I explain to people during contact lens classes that it is considered a medical device you stick in your eye. Please, people don’t buy them from novelty shops those are not FDA approved, may not be properly stored, or sterile.

Between the face shield and my glasses fogging up, it was hell. At least with the spray my glasses don’t fog up nearly as much whilst in the pool and never whilst out wearing a mask. It’s by Zeiss. I’d highly recommend.
