Exceptionally sad that Celine Dion's voice is being taken by disease yet Whitney Houston, another amazing voice as well, literally destroyed her voice from smoking crack cocaine. @@MsBatbirdHi, on the one hand I completely agree with you. On the other hand, something gnaws at my mind about this statement regarding Whitney. Smoking: true. Cocaine and crack... I don't know, I don't think you use that shit because you're so happy (so maybe mentally ill), I think I've softened up in that way. With the clear caveat that you can work on this (through therapy or something along those lines) - if you don't... then it is indeed your own choice... It is and remains very sad, especially for Celine, her LIFE was SINGING (to her late dear husband and of course children). It was/is such her identity that I hope she can find some peace and tranquility and still allow herself to be happy. She IS and REMAINS for us nothing other than one of the most legendary singers in history ever! Even though she's not singing right now. Anyone who sees her needs no new note as a reminder. I wish her the very best. ♡

One think I noticed, especially with females, was that a lot of them had a raspy sound in their voice. It's extremely rough on the vocal cords. Listening to her voice before she started using vs afterwards was so sad. I also learned that it's a choice to start smoking crack but doesn't take long until it's an addiction. This song is such a beautiful anthem to all of those real human love stories lost on Titanic. Is there anyone made of humanity who doesn't ache over what happened that one, unfathomable, impossible night in the middle of the icy North Atlantic. When I hear this song it's very difficult to try and stop my mind turning to those hundreds of people who survived ~in my mind's eye I see them, not like a scene from the movie but my own seeing somehow. I see them sitting off, safely away enough, those who miraculously, in Fates hands managed, incredibly, to be, at least for the time being, safe, atop the glassy black water in the lifeboats that were able to launch. For all those last moments, which probably seems like hours, they watched the inevitable, a scene like no other that barely seemed real, and their minds went to work, without their notice of the fact, to process the unprocessable, that which would forever be made to hold a never ending, never fading moving picture show of the sinking, which could not have been more incredible a sight ~ a shared, living, screaming hell of a nightmare, forever replaying in their waking dreams, forever, all the rest of their lives, under the unforgiving stars

@PrismalPink Art she doesn't raise the pitch, she's learned how to resonate instead of yell. She has had classic vocal training, which a lot of "hair band" singers have also had, so that they do not damage their vocal chords. Yelling strains the vocal chords, which is why so many singers wind up having surgery early on. They think these singing louder is a good thing when really it's not. You can literally see and hear them taking a huge breath before they belt lyrics at the top of their voice. If you listen to classically trained vocalists you'll notice they don't need a huge intake of breath to make their voice resonate, and yet they still sound amazing. Once upon a time I was a vocalist myself. You just have to take care of your voice.
@RachelLWolfe
Жыл бұрын
@PrismalPink Art I think you're confusing pitch with volume. Pitch is how high or low one can sing, not how loud or quiet one can sing. You can sing loudly with a high pitched voice and you can sing quietly in a high pitched voice. Someone with a baritone voice sings in a lower pitch than someone who sings soprano... a higher pitch.That's pitch. Changing pitch does not determine how loud one can sing. Hit a low C key on a piano, on the far left, and then a high C key on the far right. They're both a C, but a different pitch. One is not necessarily louder than the other. Celine Dion doesn't change her pitch when she's "belting". She still sings in her usual pitch, or "on key". She sings from her diaphragm which allows her voice to resonate, when she's not using falsetto. Singers who haven't been trained classically don't really sing from their diaphragm; they're depending on the amount of air they take into their lungs, which if you listen, is why you can hear a sharp intake of breath before they "belt" a lyric or line. They're not using their diaphragm to support their voice, and so they sing louder (volume) to compensate which then puts a strain on their vocal chords. It's literally the difference between using your indoor voice and yelling. Most singers with damaged vocal chords have said damage because they are just yelling. That's what it boils down to.

@Pricilla hnsmte she "made it big" in the same couple of years as Mariah Carey. I personally always preferred Céline. Carey was good, I just enjoyed Céline's songs more. To this day, My Heart Will Go On hits me in a way no other song has. The only ones that come close are also Céline Dion songs. It's all Coming Back to Me Now, Because You Loved Me, Beauty and the Beast...I can keep going. Even her newer stuff, like Ashes fro. Deadpool 2, bring strong emotions. Anytime I hear her older stuff, within the first 2 bars I am instantly transported to a time in my life that song was popular in. Most are romantic, but not all. Actually, My Heart Will Go On is forever linked to an extremely close friend who committed suicide a few years after Titanic. But because of seeing the movie together, our conversations about it, even things he picked on me for, it's just completely twined together. I think you nailed it, that it's the emotion she was able to immerse into the songs she sang. There's so many reasons she's one of the greats. I'm so grateful she shared her gift with the world. 💙💙💙

Celine Dion has been my favorite female artist since the first time I heard her sing! My daughter and I were fortunate enough to attend one of her Vegas shows! I am in my late 60’s and still enjoy listening to her sing. My favorite? My favorite of her many songs: The Prayer, with Maestro Andrea Bocelli, my favorite male artist. I’m so sorry that Celine has this terrible condition. I hope she will recover. All my love, Celine♥️♥️♥️

@@angeljohnson2433 everyone has their preferences but one can't deny talent. You migjt not like his tone but there is absolutely no straining. If he strained when he sang he would have destroyed his voice already. I'm friends with his coach. He is a well-oiled machine and is utterly relaxed when he sings. I like Celine and my point was that she is not the only one who can sing this song. It isn't actually all that challenging. The way Dimash ended it, whether you like his tone or not, is far more challenging. I'm pretty sure Celine could also manage it if she tried. So it is not a comparison of talent, it was a reaction to a claim that only she has the vocal ability.

It takes a strong person to resist it becoming a problem.

@RachelLWolfe
I love her so much. She will never know how many times her songs and love held me up even after I traveled to England and was stood up 2 hours before my wedding. She was there through her music even when I was at my dark night of the soul. Thank you, Beautiful Angel. 🙏✝️💖

It's hard to imagine she almost didn't record this song at all. She said she'd been on tour and wanted a break. They convinced her to come in and record it. I can't imagine anyone else singing this iconic song. It's like the song I will always love you. I adore Dolly Parton. She wrote that song. No one did if justice like Whitney Houston though.
Only one Celine... Just AMAZING! I pray for her health and her family.

When she had cancelled her residency and performances in Las Vegas, I am heart broken because singing is Celine's life!! Her diagnosis is "Stiff Person Spectrum Disorder" please ask everyone you know, to please start a prayer chain. I'm getting this out everywhere I go here on KZread. Because this disease stiffens the muscles and therefore they do not move. And this causes stiffness throughout her body. It's Thank you very much. I was blessed to see and hear her at Caesars in Las Vegas in 2011... When she belted out this song the entire audience held its breath as we forgot to breathe cause of the shock of how TRULY beautiful her voice is in person. 😲 I mean it was the first time I had tears in my eyes as I could see Céline's neck veins because she put so much power into her performance of this song. I think everyone in that audience was crying or holding loved ones tightly. It's something I will never forget for the rest of my life. I don't know how an angel sounds if she sang but if one did? It would be Céline NO DOUBT ABOUT IT... Her voice is truly Angelic 🧚🏼♀️
