When you pop in 5x5 Blindfolded, never give up…

Pop occurs at 1:48
Ended up with a 4:39.79 success (also won 5x5 blindfolded with this 💀). Popped two center pieces, found one piece and put it back, but the other piece fell on the floor and I gave up looking for it and did half of the solve with that center piece missing.
I was completely expecting a DNF with this, given that I popped in the middle of an algorithm and was completely unsure of whether or not I remembered where I was in the algorithm when finally resuming the solve, so I was pretty shocked to see the cube solved at the end. Really slow time for me in 5bld in general but I'm proud of this given what happened lol

    @@Riverish I've never tried anything bigger then 5bld but as far as i know. you only need the same amount of letters no matter how big the cube is. You just end up with more subsets. ex: 4bld had x centers, 5 blind has x centers and + centers, 6 blind has 2 sets of x centers and 2 sets of something like + centers. Each subset uses the same lettering. I could be wrong but that's my educated guess.

    Hey Graham. I'm looking for info no how to do 7bld. I assumed that you would only need 5bld method and adapt it to bigger cubes but I can't seem to figure out the center pieces that aren't x or +. Am I simply applying it imporperly do the non x and + centers have their own algs for the D layer targets and buffer layer targets?

  • @GrahamSiggins

    @GrahamSiggins

    Hey - I guess I need to ask first: are you using comms? Or just trying to use U2 for all centers? If not using comms, I would highly recommend learning how they work before tackling things above 5BLD. Believe it or not, it will make your life way easier. Centers are by far the easiest piece type to learn comms for, and comms will cut your movecount roughly in half compared to U2. And for 6+ BLD, this is huge, as execution is easily the most problematic part of trying to get successes. If you are intent on using U2, there are some algs you can learn for the D face targets and such, ones that I don’t know off the top of my head, but if you look around or make a post in speedsolving.com, I’m sure you can find those

    @@GrahamSiggins You're right comms would be way more useful and the obvious choice to solve. I do have some experience with comms but i'll have to see if I can figure out how to apply them. My question feels quite dumb now lol I posted the same question in the bld support group on FB. It's probably easier to have a convo there so I won't delete it. THank you for the reply!

    My 5bld success rate varies a lot, anywhere from 30% to like 60%. My current cstimer session is 32 successes out of 65 attempts, so I guess I'd say most typically I'm around 50% accuracy For 3bld tutorials, I've only ever watched Badmephisto's and Zane Carney's. I was satisfied with them, but I can't really say if any others are a lot better or not. For 4bld, I learned from Noah Arthur's tutorial. Same deal with 3bld, I haven't watched any other tutorials so I can't really recommend anything else, but Noah's was fine for me. For 5bld, a tutorial isn't really needed, because you can just apply all the same concepts from 4bld really
