yup in my school 3/4 of my friends have watched at least like 3 animes

I mean rn in high school, the only animes I watch are Berserk and One Punch Man but I never talk about it in school, even if someone mentions the word "anime" or "OPM", like it's not something I wanna talk about. It's just a TV show that I enjoy at home after going out, coming back home, studying, and then relaxing on the couch sometimes. It's just entertainment tbh. ok ok, I may wear a berserk shirt at the gym but thats valid tbh.

Back in 9th-10th, I had the PERFECT friend. When I tell you he was perfect, he was PERFECT! We liked the same things! South Park, anime, pro wrestling, cooking, Marvel and DC, Sonic, and so much more! Hell, he downloaded NXT Wargames on his computer while we were on a field trip and watched it along the way, an entire PPV!!! High School mostly sucks, but having friends like that made it a lot better, Spending genuine time with your friends and making life long memories. I know life gets better after high school, I think, but I'm happy to have made these memories.

I used to think anime and videogames were for losers back in my "sigma phase" ig but after a while i realized that there's nothing wrong with enjoying these things as long as your happy. I personally dont do those things anymore because it's been interfering with other things in my life

now liking anime is acceptable but making it your whole personality is unacceptable

I can relate to this. It all began when my friend officially introduced me to anime; I had a natural affinity for it. At that time, it was just my friend and me who shared this love for anime. However, when I reached high school, my friend moved to another state, and I was left alone with hardly anyone who shared the same interest. I felt quite lonely and sad because the person who had introduced me to anime had left, and most of the people around me considered anime nothing more than Asian cartoons. Some people developed a slight interest in it but still made fun of me or called me weird for watching anime. Even newcomers to anime referred to me as an "anime freak." I felt alone and continue to feel that way, but I'm grateful that there are people all over the world who share this interest 🙂.

When i was in school you had to keep the fact you liked anime a secret or you'd get bullied, but nowadays kids in middle and high school will straight up walk in wearing fox tails and ears, it wasn't until everyones favorite rappers came out saying they liked anime that it became socially acceptable. I used to be big on anime from 11-15 years old. Since then I’ve just come out of a 1 year long anime fast to catch up on attack of titan and even then it’s now the only anime I watch anymore. I’m now about half way through 16 years old and im chronically a scout

I remember in 2009 I was in 8th grade, and I was made fun of for liking anime, I remember specifically people telling me I'll grow up without friends because they'll think I'm a child, now I'm working on my masters degree and almost all my classmates are anime guys😂

I am a senior and i have never been bullied for liking anime in all of my school years. We even have football, wrestlers, and soccer athletes in the anime club. You'll get bullied for naruto running

Its seems to be that generally in the UK from my experience no one gives a shit in school. Sure people will occasionally use it as an insult if your just having banter or whatnot but people don't actively go out of their way to bully you or avoid you for liking it. Matter of fact the opposite has occurred for me many times.

Never saw anyone who watched anime get bullied. It was only the type of kids who would cosplay during school hours and constantly talk about it. By that, I mean those who constantly did anime poses/runs in the hallways and dressed over the top for no reason. It's with anything, not just anime. If you are overly obsessed/passionate about something, you will be bullied for it. Doesn't make it right, but that's how kids are. At that point, it's less about being into anime and more so about being cringe.

And if you did find one, they would possibly become your friend because of it. Anime was purposely made to not be for everyone. But now that the West obtained FAR more anime than ever, it impacts the quality that anime/manga/games have. Which goes for the worse. Now there's so many braindead woke people who's in the community. Making braindead criticisms that would have never existed if anime didn't become mainstream in the West. Censorship is far more rampant than ever before. They're even trying their best to force their inclusivity bs into anime as a whole. I missed the times when anime was more of a niche. The more popular a piece of media becomes, the more soulless and watched up it becomes.

A bunch of kids back in Middle School had been talking about Anime and been massive fans about it. I use to watch some anime when I was younger, but i am not into it as much. To be honest kids really dont care whethet you like anime or not.

I remember in middle school I had only watched 3 animes, Pokémon, Dragon Ball, and I had recently watched Tokyo Ghoul. And I had talked about watching it and I had got one of these popular kids into it. This kid was weird as fuck, bro was making a whole fan fiction about him meeting this one character in there and having a some sort of fetish about it. This man literally never got bullied for that, given I'm pretty sure I was the only one who knew about it. They knew he had watched it and bullied him for a day. Then the next day, i get bullied, but not just by the people, the dude who had watched it had started bullying me too. And they had acted like they hadn't messed with him at all. That shit pissed me off so much.

I got clowned on in my friendgroup for watching on anime. Then senior year those same friends were rocking with Naruto and one was watching highschool DxD at lunch... same kid said he wanted to name his kid naruto lol.

If you’re a high school student reading this, people don’t necessarily care what you wear, they care about how you carry yourself. My second girlfriend asked me if I had a dragon ball thing on my Facebook because I liked dragon ball or if I was just trying to be cool? Literally the first time I was ever asked that, had no clue how to respond, just told her “fuck yeah, I love anime”.

Honestly most this generations anime “fans” are just tiktok fans nowadays. They start off with either one piece or naruto most the time. (I’m talking about the people that switched up)

I honestly did switch up bc when I was younger I always hated on anime but now that I’m a teen and a lot of my friends watch anime I decided to give it a go with my starters being my hero academia, one piece and chainsaw man. Pretty basic starters but oh well bc I’m a decent anime fan now but my mom thinks it’s really weird and she doesn’t like me watching anime that much because all she knows about it are the webs

Just had to unapologetically love it and not care what people think. I never had problems having friends due to loving anime back in middle-highschool. My girlfriend of 4 years semi likes anime and knows its a part of who I am.

I usually never comment but I wanted to leave my opinion, personally I believe these people that bother anime watchers casual anime enjoyers are the same people that started watching anime during covid season 💀💀

I feel most of the bad stigma towards anime comes with all the cringe stereotypes and cliches from the 80's and early 90's era of animation. Hentai, loli, fan-service, tsundere and various age old character archetypes, etc. are what 90% of normie ppl jump to when they think of anime. But nah, most of us just come here for moments like Vegito humiliating Super Buu, Ippo saying goodbye to Volg, Zoro absorbing all of Luffy's pain and fatigue, Ichigo vs Byakuya, and Gon getting his get back for Kite against Pitou, etc. Most of which, if you put the shit in a comic book format, or live-action, then I'm sure most ppl wouldn't see any issue with it. :/
