In addition to all the stuff you listed and the story (of course), you've also got: Land Spear Weapon Announcement Homestead Announcement (Player Housing) New Weapon for each of the Professions Weapon Proficiency (all specs can use that professions weapons, e.g. a spellbreaker can use a torch) Underwater Swim Speed Infusion overhaul and account-wide options 2 New Fractals A bunch of special events like Fractal Rush, Call of War (WvW incentives), Living World Season 2 Rush, etc... Convergences (large-scale meta event, like Dragonstorm but a bit bigger) New Acquisition method for Skyscale and additional skills/upgrades New PvE Legendary Armor New Strike Missions with Challenge & Legendary Challenge Modes 12 Balance Updates 1 Pet Balance Update (for the first time ever afaik!!) A ton of bug fixes, both for new and old content (e.g. Dungeons actually got a bunch of bug fixes) Graphics & Game Engine Improvements/Options WvW Restructuring now in live beta WvW changes (siege, tactics, disablers now disrupters, lords, merchant for excessive resources... it's been a lot) Legendary Weapon Starter Kits found in the Wizard's Vault (there's a bunch of other stuff too, but this was big, especially for newer players imo) Cosmetic Inspection function A bunch of smaller stuff (new ranger pet, new skins, some skills are now ground-targeted, Action Cam Reticule options, Gobbler Improvements, minor UI improvements, etc...) ANet's been busy... I probably missed a bunch of stuff, but that's what stood out to me :)

Tbh 3 new ranger pets were a big addition to ranger, they all fit different roles, are unique and pretty fun to use

1:19 Actually something BAD and GOOD have happened to Firebrand while you were taking a break. In February 14, 2023, they reverted Mantras to their old form, so Mesmer got their powerful recharging back, and Firebrand had to manually recharge them in combat after using their final one. Those icons indicate that your mantras have been prepared (automatically outside of combat). In the most recent update, ANet backed down again and let all the Firebrand's mantras automatically recharge INSIDE of combat also (PvE only), which makes the whole spec much less annoying to play.

Hat: "I haven't played in a year, not much probably changed" ANet: "We went to hell, beat up dream demons, oh also you have bikinis. You're welcome." Hat: "What the hell happened? ...."

Welcome back! Yep, time to redo everything. Itll be fun though. SoTO will be like picking at a scab that never heals and only gets worse as you pick at it. Or like drinking warm milk, in a warm room, while wearing warm clothes and then getting your hair caught in a ceiling fan just because. This week, we finally got beachwear and fashion wars is officially over because everyone us running around naked and trying to hunt the Treasure Mushroom now because bare feet sell for 10k on the TP. Yeah, the word has changed.

Living world seasons have been replaced by yearly expansions that releases content every quarter (expansions don't release all content day one) with events (almost every week to every 2 weeks) to fill the content void.

Welcome back! Nah, you didn't miss much, no. Say good bye to living world and hello to yearly expansions. Check out the new fractal, new strikes, a new hub, a new legendary armor to craft, new weapons for every class, and if you belong in the camp "we want land spears", "we need a new raid" or "we want player housing" the new expansion should make you quite happy :D Hope you have a ton of fun with the game :)

For gameplay additions it was the worst year for you to miss, like seriously, a lot has changed, been added, redone. For story it was probably the most skippable, not a lot happened at all. You can probably binge story inside of a day. Judge based on your own preferences which matters more to you.

Oh hai Mr Censored Head, I mean Heavy Hat. Zojja's back and we're friends with the demons now, you know the regular world saving stuff. Oh and weapons, you can swap weapons regardless of your eli spec. You just need to talk to this one guy.

Welcome back. Heck, you can even select which background you want in your character select screen now. Legit though, there has been a ton of QoL stuff added or just more options to get the game to look/be more the way 'you' want it. Which is really nice.

Welcome back HH! You were missed. Have fun playing and exploring everything you missed, and get ready for the next expansion, because Anet has changed their release strategy (again), and they are selling a new "Mini" expansion every 12 to 15 months, which get released in phases approx. every 3 to 4 months. This strategy has been received with mixed reactions, but generally, most people like having something new released more often, instead of having years of nothing, between releases of major expansions. Players who like the story are having to adjust to small bites at a more frequent interval, which is a bit disappointing for some. Let's see how Anet does with this 2nd iteration of their new plan when Janthir Wilds is released. The announcements for it so far seem to be encouraging.

it's not rumored, it's actually listed on the expansion page.

You don't recognize the character select screen. You mention the JW expansion icon as a next expac. So do you want the long version or the LONG version?

I wonder if you had any legendary rune and got legendary Relic cause of that 🤔
