I’ve had many beds in corners like that. It makes complete sense in a small room, depending on placement of windows & door(s.) The ONLY thing I don’t care for is changing out the sheets. You can’t, of course, go back & forth getting the bedding just right. Moving the mattress can be really difficult, & doesn’t help much anyway. The only thing I’ve thought of as a solution would be for the bed to be on small, locking wheels. Unlock them to roll the bed away from the wall, lock them when you roll it back into place.

When I moved out of my tiny apartment, I moved across the country, and my future brother and sister in law got a bunch of my hand me downs. When I was cat sitting for my brother in law, I saw my one legged table being used as the perfect little nightstand that the door doesn't hit it, but still allows a surface for glasses, but not clutter.

Since we don't know what the rest of the place looks like or the persons living situation. The room might not have been designed to be a bedroom, or if it was it might have been meant for a smaller bed. Not one the size for two people.
"if you cant do it the right way, do it the least frustrating way" is a pretty good mindset for most things i feel like!
I would have done this on my bedroom, but we both need the nightstands. We have different routines, wake up at different times, different sleep patterns, etc. One of us would need to crawl over or go around the bed in order to get to the nighstand with our phone/alarm. I agree it would feel better, but it wouldn't be practical.

I agree with your point about it being a pain to make, though. I’m glad I’m not a gorilla. Apparently silverbacks make a new bed from scratch every night to help them avoid parasites!
Why not change door into the other room, barn sliding. It is on a track not swing in either room. Put bed at an angle since there is no door in room and way then you would have two sides to get in.
I like how he just ignores the (possibly) only charging port in the room😂

"Embrace the tightness" That's what she said
I feel safer against the wall anyways
Make a “nightstand” on the wall with some nice looking hooks and caddies. That way they don’t have to keep loose stuff in the bed or bother their partner to pass them stuff
The layout you suggest is pretty much exactly what my boyfriend and I did out of necessity , so now I feel a little bit better about it xD Luckily he doesn't mind sleeping on the wall side, because he barely ever needs to get out of bed to pee (I do way more frequently) and he also doesn't really need anything on the nightstand (I do) and he sometimes goes to bed before I do, so then it's very easy for me to join, because I don't have to climb over :)
This video helped a lot. I have a king size bed that it doesn’t fit in the farthest part of the room and the only way to make it fit unfortunately is to put it against the wall with the door because the other side has the window.
having the bed against the corner works for me and my partner specifically because i'm a gremlin who will sleep on top of my phone and crawl straight down off the end of the bed to get up whether my partner is there or not so. works for us !! ^^

As someone who has spent many years sleeping on the wall-side of this bed configuration, I wholeheartedly disagree that the comprise is worth it. Get a smaller bed, a bigger room, or a layout that works equally for both sides.
Your videos would be of greater value if you included closet doors and circuit breaker box restrictions knowing you shouldn't block those..ijs..I still enjoy ur videos
the sticky note headboard *chef's kiss*
Wasn't feeling it until you added the extra bead head and rug, so much better :)
Gotta love those lamps
When organizing furniture in a room, I like to prioritize comfort. Having awkward spaces that require you to shuffle around objects is the biggest thing to avoid in my eyes. Pluss some people really like their beds to be like little nooks. My bed has a wall at the head and side, and a large dresser at the foot. protected on 3 sides feels really nice.
My husband and I started Halliday Renovation nearly 45 years ago before " flipping" became a common word. I loved looking at the floorplans and creating better living spaces by moving walls, doors, closets etc. Other Real Estate agents heard about me and would call me to their listing to explain what needed to be done to make a house more appealing. I was always amazed at the terrible floor plans , even in newer housing, that exists.
I place furniture depending on the outlet situation. I saw they had that space there because looks like something was plugged in there.
i’ve never slept in a bed that had space on both sides. i have a feeling i would hate it. i like to feel cozy
You could feel the difference right away even in the little model
Americans never cease to amaze me
As someone who’s been single all my life, I always shove my bed against the wall. Makes me feel secure to have my back against it when I sleep, and it always gives me more space to use my room for other stuff
"oo i bet hes gonna add a rug.... YEAHHHHH!!" -my viewing experience
I have my bed in a corner like this with an extra headboard. It's extremely cozy!
I feel like they should just push the headboard against the left window and add a false wall at the foot of the bed for privacy/comfort.
this only works if you sleep alone otherwise when the person sleeping next to the wall has to pee they gotta wake up the other person
I love the timing in which he cuts their video
That rug made a huge difference
Gosh I enjoy watching these
Reminds me of my brother's dining room, it used to be too tight to get pass the table, but then he removed a cabinet and now there's more space to get pass
This is basically how me and hubby are. He has a bedside table at the foot of the bed between him and closet. I have a dresser on my side as my bedside table. And we have body pillows that act like headboards on top and side. He sleeps on inside I sleep on outside. 😅
Another alternative could be seeing if you could change the door’s swinging direction, or even install a sliding door. Might not be feasible, but never hurts to consider all your options. Love the video though! Very cute. :3
I love everything you do absolutely amazing!
This position of the bed is VERY COMFORTABLE. I have a small room in my parents’ country house and a bed in the corner was my best idea ever
maybe switch the bed with cabinet, and change the door, sliding door or door that open on right hand side.
This man is why my roommate and I manage to live in peace in a studio apartment. A few curtains to make my area feel like my own room and block the view of the front door. A well placed shelf or two. And using a lazy boy bed chair instead of a bed allows for more room because it folds into a chair or lies flat into a bed, allowing both sides of his bed to be accessible when we have guests over. And or can put a few chairs against the air conditioning for more sit space that still faces our entertainment center with plenty of walking room for flow.
I really like your videos. I'm starting to arrange things like you in my head. Each video is like a pop-quiz. Ha!
Love the matching lamps. 😁😁
Pushing the bed against the wall is quickest way to have spiders in your bed 😳😩😱
Yeah this works. My bed is built in so is pressed up against a wall by choice - I have the side near the wall, my partner gets the open side. I have the thick built-in headboard as my bedside table (it's wide enough and fairly tall so it works) and when I need to get up and out during the night, I just slide down off the end. In an ideal world I'd be able to change it but I physically cannot so just made the room work around it!
i know a situation like this and it's not working since the person on the right needs to get up much earlier but the person on the right can't sleep on the left, so they can't just switch places. which is why they too have this awkward space that pnly exists for the earlier one to get out of bed.
I would turn the bed. It's very difficult to make a bed that stands against the wall.
This will make the room more claustrophobic with those lamps/tables, maybe just one lamp
I didn't even realise those are screws , your a genius 😂❤
I’ve had many beds in corners like that. It makes complete sense in a small room, depending on placement of windows & door(s.) The ONLY thing I don’t care for is changing out the sheets. You can’t, of course, go back & forth getting the bedding just right. Moving the mattress can be really difficult, & doesn’t help much anyway. The only thing I’ve thought of as a solution would be for the bed to be on small, locking wheels. Unlock them to roll the bed away from the wall, lock them when you roll it back into place.
I feel like the biggest contributor to why the bed isnt fully at the wall is the power outlet there
It would take like 30 minutes to make it so that door opens the other way.
I lived in a tiny apartment in college, and I wanted a place to set my drink when I was on my love seat using my laptop without having to remove my computer to take a sip. I asked my mom if I could take the "one legged table" to put behind my couch. It was actually a hallway post, free standing but a half circle designed to sit on against a wall.
This feels like a real problem, real fix. I absolutely love the advice!
