When to Use Present Perfect and Past Simple (full lesson)
This is a longer video to help English learners understand when they should use present perfect tense and when they should use past simple tense.
First, I discuss some basic rules/guidelines for present perfect and past simple, and then I guide you through a worksheet that I used to use in the classroom with my students.

Thanks a lot Mike. Your class is as a clear as water.
Thank your for the best explaination. The key moment in choosing tense is the correspondence between two periods of time. Other teachers and textbooks never told me about this.
Am from Ethiopia and i would like to say thank you teacher🙏
Thanks you Mr.Mike ,i was greatly helped by Mr.Mike's explanation, i want to study with Mr Mike for explaining slowly so i understand
Майк, я не слыхал ничего лучше, чем ваши уроки ! Вы тратите так много энергии, сил, чтобы донести до людей прекрасный язык : * берите! Я уже разжевал вам ( никто лучше меня не сделает этого) и проглотить! Но... Но. Надо и вам трудиться ! Так учитесь, лентяи.! ( это я в свой адрес). Спасибо вам!

Thanks Teacher Mike, this helps me due to i was not sure about the uses of these tenses in context like i have to use correctly right now, perfect or past?

In that case, you could use either one, and they would just be slightly different.

@@TeacherMikeEnglish about employee, she is still working there and you chose she has worked I thought we could use she has been working
Fit time to listening to you the duration is not too long and not too short, i try my best to tenses a bit confusing thought why did you use the word see not The word watch? The word watch it's better i think.😊

Good Morning tr
what the difference between vacation. leave. holiday. off .........
I was surprised that still is used in negative sentences. Question: should we replace it with continued in positive sentence? EX: She continues living in dormitory. I hope she rents an apartment soon.
@TeacherMikeEnglish
3 ай бұрын
No. Using "continues" there sounds strange. She still lives in the dormitory.✅

Last question: I was watching this movie many times? Why we can’t use past continuous form?
@TeacherMikeEnglish
9 ай бұрын
It generally doesn't make sense to say "I was ___ing many times." We use past continuous to say that one habit or action was continuing non-stop/repeatedly, so adding "many times" is strange.
