I heard also that the drive disk exp refund changes depending on the level. Is it true that you get a much smaller refund from level 15 instead oflevel 3

What you said about infinity energy and limited currency is 100% correct. I’ve been playing genshin since day 1. Almost 4 years later, as a low spender all my characters are lvl90, 9/9/9 talents or crowned, and I’m able to solo the endgame(with certain characters)

Saving energy is just crazy. Skipping content just to wait and farm for useless shit is even more crazy. At one point I have almost got hutao c1 (83 - 100% pity) and I cant stop blame myself wtf I skip first 3 abyss cycle to "farming mora" and not artifact pre ar50. After a while energy is just to play around, I even come to the stage when I have nothing to do with it then process to farm 9 month for hutao, I think my peak was when she rank 32/100k people who register her.

so from 35-40 its okay to farm a mix of currency, character/weapon xp and discs? then from 40-45 focus on character talents/core skills, ascension mats with some disc farming?

I did what you said in the 35-40 energy efficiency guide and it helped a lot. Only farmed character and wengine xp till 40. I’m able to clear up to 4.

No point rushing to push Shiyu critical. Its 90 polychrome per S-Rank clear which is 630 or 3.93 pulls if you clear all 7 S-Rank. A lot of work and investment to get there. If your current roster doesn't not suit your tastes then I'd wait until you have the characters you want for a second team. Just build one team for now and its good enough for all other content. You might regret investing your resources into characters you don't want to play in the future, time is also money.

I dont think you understand lil buddy. You can't just "wait" for a "future" team. Your energy is time capped. You have to spend energy before it reaches max. Also "waiting" is pretty stupid in gacha games like this. It can take months before you get your 5 star characters that you wanted.... also upgrading a new character doesn't even take a weeks worth of resources. If anything it just seems like you're coping about your terrible resource management If you are beating shiyu critical it means you are spending your energy efficiently.

If your goal is to min-max the polychrome rewards then EOD gamer makes a fair point. Gacha games is basically waiting for energy and new content. Many people save and wait to invest in characters they like. At least its worked fine for me since Genshin. Drawing from previous Hoyo games and from the zzz cbt (they did decrease resource costs) you will start running into Denny shortages as you invest into agents. You can farm for materials and not actually use them. This does not mean you need to let your energy cap and turn the game on only when new content drops. I'm not sure how you concluded I have terrible resource management. I've invested the bare minimum for one team and cleared everything except Shiyu. The critical Shiyu rewards will still be there for another 19 days. There is plenty of time to hold on to resources to plan your usage appropriately. That is also time to wait for information on upcoming characters. For example, there is already information on what agents are coming in 1.1 and beyond which I have plans for in my second team.

Am f2p and lv 39. Able to get Shiyu Defense to lv 8, even tho 7-8 are still A. I know its a slow start, not to worry about getting higher. Im still focusing my 2nd team

As much as I tryhard in Hoyo games, I personally will not be worrying about end game Shiryu Defense until I get another limited 5 star. I wasted too many resources in early Star Rail building bad 4 stars trying to push MoC, and it was very frustrating.

@@haunt7121 I wasn't going to go for Ellen, but I got Von Lycaon and after 113 pulls still haven't gotten another S Rank, so I went for Ellen so I'd have at least 1 good team. Not working on any other units aside from Ellen's team at the moment. Sure I could use Billy, Nicole, and Anby as a 2nd team but building Billy is almost 100% not worth the resources.

This only apply mostly for dps, for support it's actually quite fine. Investing on character like soukaku, Lucy or Nicole is not that bad since you can still use them later on. But I understand leveling character like Anton or Billy for example, which is pure dps, might end up becoming a waste later on especially if you don't like their gameplay Like in HSR case, I actually glad fully invest on tingyun and Pela, they go long way before finally getting replaced, my sushang tho, damn she is no longer used ever since blade/kafka

I beat MANY MoC stages with 1.0 4 star characters. The fact that you couldn't do it has nothing to do with the characters themselves. People always blame other things and not their personal skill issue.

So pre 40, focus on char lvl, skills and talents, and weapons upgrade. Then focus a bit on discs post 40

I actually got a really good piece for Ellen with not much farming. I got an S-rank Polar Metal [2] with, at base, ATK%, Crit, CDmg, Pen. The substat roles were not great for what they could have been, 3 into Pen, 1 CDmg and 1 Atk%. Still a really good piece though

Try to clear the floors as you can before it reset get poly as you can from it and try later and good luck spending energy

So do you recommend just spending batteries? Or refilling with polychrome as well? Seems like you wouldn't make much of a dent in your characters power level at this point without dipping into poly spending.

I don't get what "Energy Efficiency" refers to. (Can't be Inter-knot xp per Battery Charge has a fixed rate across every activity, afaik) If it means "Amount of materials per energy" comparing Clean Up vs VR, then I don't see how it was concluded that farming discs now is better, even if I agree with the result. (If you farm green/blue material, you still get to craft higher quality ones with them, for example)

What makes a drove disk good enoguh to take to level 15? When should you stop leveling a drive disk and farm another one based on its substat rolls at different levels? Please make a video about that

I completely agree that Polychrome is better than Battery Charge. However, I disagree with the statement "as time tends to infinity" because, with infinite time, you can acquire infinite amounts of both Polychrome and Battery Charge. Therefore, using this argument to prioritize Polychrome over Battery Charge doesn't make sense

I don't understand why would you recommend waiting for 40, that sounds like stamina waste. You unlock next disk farming stage at lvl 45, but new resource stages on lvl 40. So if you want to farm disks before 45, you should do so in 35-40, and then farm resources 40-45.

Which 4* weapon is better on Ellen?

I've been using the black ATK Wengine that gives you +35% damage after chaining in/using an ultimate. So chain in with Stun >Support >DPS Ellen and launch an ulti (+35%, not counting any other baton-passed buffs from your support characters with Swing Jazz discs) and it will shred the target.

@@kae9831 Just checked, it's called Lunar Decrescent and it is 25%, not 35%, sorry. Starlight Engine gives you half of that but lasts twice as long, but it needs a quick dodge/assist to proc. Depends on your playstyle, I suppose. Starlight Engine is good for Billy because he gets dodge-counter buffs through Cinema bonuses. Lunar Decrescent is good for DPS nukes when the opponent is stunned.

As a F2P, 2 teams with purple disk drives n purple W-engines can only get me as far as clearing shiyu 1 to 8 with S-rank. Shiyu 9 (lvl 45 enemies) is basically impossible for me, the dmg is just not enough. For now, my logic says I should prefarm for lvl 50 materials first since it's basically a certain investment per stamina spent without any RNG involved. Hopefully by the time I reached union 40 I can start to farm disk drives.

I got past Shiyu 9, but it involved levelling up some disk drives almost all the way. I don't know that it was totally worth it as Shiyu 10 is basically a wall and so I have to wait for account 40 anyway, but it can definitely be done. My team was Ellen/Piper/Soukaku and Grace/Anby/Anton. I think you have the right idea now, I think if you can pre-farm for 50 you'll be in a great spot!

@@Gutock thx for sharing, judging from your experience it seems it's not worth to force myself to farm disk drive to get past shiyu 9 only to find myself severely lacking in stamina to farm lvl 50 mats. To clear shiyu 8 with 0-level purple disk drive teams (except for 2 dps) is alrdy forcing too hard 😅. Just now I decided to bought BP pass n monthly subscription to better prepare for union 40 😤

Same. I S-ranked 1-8 with Solider 11 as my only S rank character, and then level 9 I could not even clear the first boss in the time frame. I don't know if it's possible with level 40 characters unless you have Ellen or maybe just Lycaon would be enough. I've been saving pulls for Zhu Yuan though, and Shiyu reset should still be a week or so off once she's out, so if you're rolling for her you should still have enough time to clear.

@@sagelord77 lol even I who use ellen-lyacon-shoukaku spent more than 5 mins to clear the first boss. To clear shiyu 9 with only lvl 40 units, the bare minimim is 2 dps with maxed gold disk drive set and probably gold W-engine. I dont think it's worth for f2p n low spender to farm gold disk before union 40.

​@@GutockMaybe try Nicole instead of Piper? Piper is great but she competes for gield time with Ellen, the assault she applies is worthless for Ellen and that team doesnt even activate her passive. Nicole can provide grouping and DEF shred and some damage that takes almost no field time.

Thoughts on using 2 piece def set on stunners? I'm never going to farm energy/ether domain and I've been spending tunings on attack set for Sokaku and Lucy because it's another set tied to an element I don't use. 16% def is kind of a high number compared to the 6 and 8% from offensive stats too.

Honestly since this is a new game is geared towards a more broader audience, given its modern aesthetics, it just depends on how generous they are with the amount of Polychromes tied to every activity. I sincerely hope they know that for new players that aren't used to this genre template of game, having to spending money to enjoy parts of a free-to-play game instead of spending it on cosmetics, is frowned upon. Most popular F2P games make their money from skins/visual cosmetics and let's say ZZZ releases an absolutely broken character that literally breaks the game(it could happen given how unique each character is). Unless players dump loads of money in or are forced to grind for polychromes like crazy, easing back on the monetary aspect of this gacha games would be wise to maintain the player base. Unlike Genshin players who have had 4+ years to get used to it, it's clear from the amount of resources gone into marketing this game, they want to pull in a newer larger audience. This game's release atmosphere felt just like Genshin's when it first came out but now GI has gone into its own huddle where anyone outside looking in will be put off buy the things you have to go through to "enjoy" the game. I can tell it takes time to design and animate the characters so making it so at some point majority would be able to own the character would be beneficial. I know y'all are gonna say "it's a gacha game what do you expect", name one gacha game that has gone mainstream (i mean mainstream like Fortnite, Elden Ring, Cod, GTA, OW, Minecraft) and stayed there? Sure as hell wasn't Genshin. ZZZ is such a promising game and I believe it has the chance to pull it off... but anways thx 4 the guide

Don't really need to decide between farming gear or anything else before 40, honestly. By the time you get to level 35~ you should have 2 teams raised to 40 and at least the DPS units in those team's skills raised. Hell, i have every characters weapon also at 40. After that, unless you're Pre-farming for 50 cap, there's nothing to do but farm gear to increase your damage.

it kind of is, the average life expectancy for a male at least is around 70ish years. 70-75. So everyone thinking mid life is 40s or 50s nah son. Mid life is 35. Plus look at how focused society is on "youth" people forget about their favorite artists/celebs when they aren't in their 20s anymore cause they aren't as young. Fast food entertainment has made people want the newest thing faster. When living in a hyper consumerism society its hard to not feel old around that age when everything gets replaced with the snap of the fingers.

‘Energy efficiency’ is not as straightforward as people make it out to be; an efficient spend of energy isn’t ‘does this get me the optimal number of resources’ but rather ‘does this help me achieve my goals in an optimal way’. Too many people spend time sat on shitty underlevelled B rank relics because ‘I could be using my energy 10% more optimally if I wait til lvl 50!’ when actually getting decent relics and getting a massive step up on character power earlier is a far superior investment.

Am i lucky or what? Havent spent a dime yet but thinking about getting battle pass. Ive pulled 2 nekomata, 2 elen, 1 koleda, 1 Electric maid and Elen's w-engine, butler bangboo, about to get shark bangboo. My account is stacked. Same email i used for genshin and i seem to have some luck there, this email is special ✨️
