First time I played against a stax deck was a breath of fresh air, felt like it just threw in a bunch of interesting modifiers to the game and made me rethink my usual lines.

As far as MLD vs creature/other sweepers, it is also noteworthy to point out that a lot of decks aren't designed to come back from abruptly losing all of their lands. You chose the hand to keep, which had at least enough mana or draw to get you going, and your manabase was presumably designed around a specific curve and pip needs, so it is a lot harder for decks to get back into it at one resource a turn when you have no guarantee to receive those resources from a top deck. Now, maybe we should design decks better that can do so, but the stigma against MLD makes it often unnecessary to do so. But with creatures and other card types we often already assume that we are going to lose some of them, and as long as we still have resources to cast them it isn't as hard to rebuild and is largely baked in to the gameplan, outside of maybe aggro decks or just janky piles. Also, for creature sweepers, even if you are hellbent after a Blasphemous Act or whatever clears your board, you will usually still have access to a creature in the form of your commander. With lands, there is no guarantee that you have any left in hand or will top deck one when only 30-40% of your deck was lands at the start.

re: "When you play extra turns?" -Yeah, the infinite turns bit makes sense. -Additionally, in voltron. Voltron strats win via combat. Extra combat spells work similarly here.

Another great podcast. I agree with many of the points made. I'm completely fine with playing against just about anything, as long as there is a purpose/wincon in there. If someone destroys all lands and then wins that turn or the next turn, I'm 100% cool with that. I don't mind stax and I'm not against super friends decks, but have to agree it can be really boring sitting there for 10+ minutes while someone goes through all their planeswalker abilities.

First time viewer here, got recommended by a friend - and oh boy, Thousand Year Storm is my favorite card in the game. Haha. And I absolutely (sadly) agree and understand the frustration with Storm, but it's just such a rush and a cool "story" if you can pull it off! It's what makes it so cool and awesome to me and I do wish I could actually make it work more casually. (as a cEDH player, I know full well how to make it pop-off by just using all the staple cards and such - but when i'm trying to intentionally limit myself and also adhere to a budget, it takes a lot more work to pull it off, which means my opponents are not as amused when I try to play it). Also, what's with this Grixis blashpemy? Jeskai is where it's at and is the true king of Storm! Gotta rep my queen - Elsha of the Infinite!

I need to mention fairie macabre as a graveyard hate card. You discard it for free from your hand and exile two target cards. Very common piece in pauper edh

STAX IS FINE. OMG, just ban white and blue. White cant win by dealing 120 damage fast. It wins by slowing everyone down to its pace. Ban anything that slows down or interferes with a gameplan. Everybody just wants to goldfish. Ban opponents already. Magic as richard garfield intended causes anxiety and frustration. Love it or play pokemon.

Resource denial prevents people from playing the game so everyone should play Veteran Explorer. While you're at it, play cards that give your opponents mana so they don't whine 'I can't play the game'. Group hug is the only acceptable archetype. Don't try to win. That's the logical extension of "dont' play mass land destruction"
