"When They Cry", or "Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni", was an awesome series. The pacing was brilliant, and it's probably the only anime I can think of that legitimately creeped me out. I wouldn't say it's necessarily scary, even though the show is categorized under the horror genre, but even today it's the closest example anime has gotten I think to being even the slightest bit spooky, and I commend that ("Another" was decently spooky, too). The opening, the song this remix is of, was fantastic, and the second season to "When They Cry" arguably had an even better opening. Finally, the anime was generally just super enjoyable to watch, and that's always nice.
Whew, I digress. This remix was made approximately a year ago at this point, immediately after I finished the show, so you can imagine that having to go back to it now was kind of insane. I had to change sooooo much, haha. If I can find the oldest of the versions of this remix still lying around (I've modified it in total about three different times now), I might leave a link in the description so that you guys can compare the differences. For science. I think the remix was originally going to be trance, but in the end I don't know if it fits into any concrete genre due to how slow it is. I guess I'm satisfied with how it sounds especially considering it would've sounded way worse If I had uploaded this when I initially "finished" it... but, in the end, this is a year-old remix, and I think, even after all the updates, it still shows. My bad. I'll take this as my lesson learned, to never keep ANY sort of mix longer than, like, six months at a time.
Also, there's a reference thrown in here as well, and it's from the Pokemon franchise. It should be easy to spot, so my only hint is that it's fitting for the type of show "When They Cry" is. Happy reference hunting, and enjoy! :D

Its only confusing at the beginning. Starting at the 2nd season, it all starts to make sense.
I'm so happy there's a remix of this song, and it's soooo goooood too! I found this a year ago and been listening to it ever since!

that was a spot-on choice,if you ask me. Also,you got nostalgia x2 multiplier 'cause this Opening was my main jam during my 16/17ies! Also,may i suggest you Bloody Stream (Jojo 2013 Anime) for a future remix? (But,hey,you don't have to if you don't want to!)

Ya know I've noticed something about remixers. (I may have said this before) When I first started watching remixers I thought every song was equally amazing however as time progresses and I go back to hear older remixes I realize how wrong I was and that the gradual increase to amazingness makes you experience the same awsome experience over and over again. Which is Great!

I've noticed this as well--in other people's works, and also in my own. As I become more knowledgeable about my hobby and how to better make music, I can analyze remixes a lot better and notice what sounds good and what doesn't, regardless if they're mine or not (though, it IS definitely easier to analyze my own work, obviously, haha). Now… I still have a loooot to learn, but at least I can tell that all my pre-2013 work is ABSOLUTELY terrible when I go back to check it out presently hahaha.

I know this is such an old upload of yours, but I found it today and read your video description, and I wholeheartedly agree with loving the show as being a new enjoyer of the series. I just finished all the anime content and enjoyed this remix here a lot

I confess and I'm sorry to all song purist to higurashi, I like this one better than the original.
Dem LTown references, tho...
I prefer Umineko myself. Partially because of my name, but because it was just a weird plot. I actually never thought I'd like that type of anime until then (sherlock/poirot type stories plus anime just seemed a weird mix). It's strangeness horror/magic etc. was good though.
