Try to follow as many of the guidelines as possible...if you can come up with a clever system, then go for it! - At least 12 characters long - At least 1 letter and number - At least 1 special character (e.g. % , $ , _ , !) - At least 1 capitalized letter - No names, common phrases, or dates (this includes years) This is the biggest thing I can say about passwords: - Try to separate the password from anything people could ask about you (e.g. School name, year of graduation, student id number) as they can be socially engineered from you. I've seen clever ways some people do it. - Make up callsigns and counter signs. - e.g. "Indigo" and "Blue" - Simple Encryption (A is now E, B is now F, C is now G) - Key/Value system - Similar to the callsigns but the you can tie two words together. E.g. "Red" ->"Apple" I'd share my system, but I don't want to give it away.
