Vortex really squandered his position in the early game. Should've started moving villagers onto the main island as soon as he started pushing with his ships and docks on the south.

Yeah. Steppe Redoubt on main island. A monk for the 3 relics and 2 sacred sites for great passive gold. Spam lancers to patrol the 4 golds as the SS ticks down. Probably can give up on water with a few minutes to go as you have 2 boar and lots of deer, and all the boats are then useless pop space if you have a SS to decap.

get on the main island, build a tc (or move the main tc there since its mongols), put springald towers along the coast, win.

I think Vortix missed an opportunity to ferry villagers to the main island earlier and go Castle Age with the Steppe Redoubt on one of the large golds. His Kurultai on the beginning island contributed nothing but the age up.
