In my opinion no cop is better than a regular citizen wherein the punishment should be the same. Cops should also not be allowed to simply charge someone with that either because they get hit doing their job which is something expected to occur periodically. I notice when someone hits a cop they don’t get bail until they stand before a judge, which should also apply to anyone who is charged with the same thing. Still, I appreciate and respect the point you make here.

@angh2008 I fully agree that there are good cops. Actually, the majority of them are good. But humam beings are fallible. I live in a poor country that is implementing cams on police officers right now. It is interesting that cops are blaming it and avoiding working because they don't want to be seen in the courts. But I can understand as far we are becoming a narco dictatorial regime.

Anytime a cops bodycam footage is lost or refused to be handed over the accused cop should automatically be found guilty!!!

This should be standard protocol. If I am the driver of the car, The onus [duty or responsibility] to ensure that there are no open containers of alcohol is solely on me. If I am the owner of a firearm the onus is clearly on me to ensure that it is used responsibly. If I own a dog, it is on me to ensure they do not harm other people or their property. Cameras protect both parties and censorship should only be done by a 3rd party to bleep out personal addresses and names if deemed necessary by a judge. There is such power given to officers, it continually surprises me how much freedom also goes with it. Freedom from accountability, freedom to mute/ blur or "misplace/misfile" body cam footage.

What's really scary is how many serious crimes these dirty pigs actually commited b4 they are held accountable for anything!!

That's one reason why body cams should not be able to be tampered with once they leave the charging cradle and when returned, police need a independent entity to retrieve and distribute the data or once data is downloaded, it downloaded to a server law enforcement doesn't have complete control of. Then and only then there will be transparency.

ANYone (cop or civ) who can be proved in court to have jumped over the line needs to be punished far more harshly. This for the safety of our society at large.

I recently watched a ‘Unusual Suspects’ and the cop had zeroed in on someone and no matter what anyone said--even when proven to be wrong, he STILL continued that suspect was guilty--it’s terrifying the power of LEO and if they are bad, they should be held MORE accountable. It’s scary that a man, could lose his reputation, family and life, over a cop who brags about being ‘zealous for the truth’😏🙄

We have the largest proportion of incarcerated people in the world, drives of people in prison for non-violent offenses, especially drug offenses, but there are always people saying soft on crime rabble rabble rabble. Specific cases of unreasonably weak sentencing occur, sure, but ruining lives through incarceration and knee jerk tough on crime policy reactions don’t work.

I'm black and 65YO, jarrod. I grew up on the west and near-west sides of Chicago. My personal experiences with hard-on-crime and soft-on-consequences governance are deep and detailed. Legalizing the possession and open consumption of drugs, in theory, seems like a fine idea. Places like L.A., Chicago and Seattle have proven that being "nice" to criminals and drug users have created far more invasive\expensive problems. Since these repercussions are real and can't be disputed, please speak to what I've said here. Since blacks have come to overtly represent these conditions, another black man has delved much deeper than I'm capable of on this subject. I suggest you read Thomas Sowell's: Black Rednecks and White Liberals. I'll say this and hope you end up knowing why: Until blacks grow past our programming\exploitation, MANY of us need to be in jail. @@jarrodmelson7802

Former St Louis Police Officer here. I knew both officers involved in the incredibly stupid Russian Roulette game. It was a pretty big deal when it happened, and there were other officers who were initially involved in game, but were on duty, and became uncomfortable with the game and left just before Katlyn Alix was shot. All of them had been drinking there at the apartment, even tho several of them were on duty at the time. Apparently, this incident wasn't the first time Hendren and Alix had played Russian Roulette together, and it was found out that Hendren had a pretty serious kink fetish that involved "sex play with guns and knives". Its an absolutely tragic incident that never should have happened. Katlyn Alix does take at least an equal part in the blame of her own death, as she pretty willingly chose to participate in this sick game, being very well aware of how suicidally dangerous it was. But I think that Nate Hendren should have gotten a whole lot more time than what he got. She paid the most serious kind of price for her stupidity, and he should be pay a much more serious price than what he is, and gotten at least a 25 or 30 year sentence, but preferably longer.

Since you say you were a cop, or maybe still are...serious question here...do they really look for people with low IQ's to become police officers bc the shixx I see in today's policing has no other explanation. I am 60 years old & cops were not like this when I grew up. I mean you HAVE to be pretty stoooopid to play Russian Roulette or be playing with guns at all or be doing the incredibly stupid things that the cops do today. Like you just said, drinking on the job for one but just not even knowing laws when it comes to arresting people. They don't have any idea if people are even breaking a law or not. They just make them up. I'm seriously questioning what goes on with the people they hire today. Tia

Well that one school officer Scott Peterson was found not guilty at his trial. Also most police dept tell you to wait for backup when there is active shooter and you are by yourself. What got me was the 300+ cops who stood outside that one school in TX and all they did was threaten parent who tried to save their children. No one was held accountable for that. Then you have the dumbshit Gov of TX talking about how they did there best. Well who needs them if 300 cops sit on there ass when one shooter is in a classroom.

In the Russian roulette story and probably some others because I'm only at the Russian roulette story so far I can almost guarantee that it was not officers playing a game of Russian roulette that was just a cover story to try and get the officer to avoid charges. It's good that their ploy didn't work but it's bad that people would actually fall for such a obvious cover up

Campus police are generally people who couldn't get hired by State, County, town departments. They tend to be over aggressive, extra macho thugs. Not all of them, but I can tell you the U of MD cops were real extra when I attended.

Yup. Those who are working as security in malls, grocery stores, hospitals along with loss prevention are often angry about failed attempts to be hired as LEO and this anger and frustration intensifies when reminded of the lack of power they have. How great would it be if law enforcement agencies were required to share the results of background check and psychological exam. After all, the findings of these investigations found something that prevented hiring.

I believe that officers who commit, beatings on innocent people, or people who are complying with commands who are no threat or harm to the officer, I believe that the exact punishment should be given to the officer who beat that person up., it should be done publicly for as many people viewing as possible for both shame , even if there was an object used like a flashlight or any type of device used like handcuffs they should endure the same pain the victim went through , qualified immunity must be abolished by all costs so officers cannot get away with murder , also make it a felony to turn off or mute body cams and if any officer commits this they are fired immediately and stripped of any kind of duty in law enforcement for the rest of thier lives ... we live in clown world where cops get away with murder left and right and get light sentences, but " we the people" get the book thrown at us for a broken tail light on a car or no plate light , or the tiniest crack in a windshield that doesn't obstruct my view , but we get a 90$- 300$ ticket for it further making it harder for anyone to fix those things because now we have to pay the court for something as minor as a bulb I had no idea was out that was 20$ but I now have to pay 120$ ticket making it harder for people to afford anything when your poorer than dirt. It's actually a sadistic game for police to arrest and ticket people who are poor, ever see someone rich get pulled over or someone who at least looks like they've got money.... not really it's always 9/10 the poorest of the poor who get pulled over for things that don't harm anyone else , you could say having 1 tail light is dangerous and that in the rain you might get mistaken as a motorcycle but... it's better than none and there's enough warning to let people know there's another vehicle in front of you , so really who did that harm when there's still one more light warning people that is illuminated enough to indicate there's a vehicle in front of them , same with a plate light? Who did that harm besides the police can't see your plate at night , will it cause an accident without that license plate light ... no it won't so who did it harm, to be a crime there would have to be a victim right? So when did traffic law Trump the constitution?

Sgt. Pulsease needs to get the exact punishment he wanted to give his prisoner - maced, tazed, beaten; and then sent to state prison where he can meet some of the prisoners he has previously assaulted. Bad cops need to be made examples of.

I call BS on that last case , we all know that a Hundai can't do over 110 mph or he would have out run the police vehicles. It's impossible because of the speed restrictions placed on compact , sedan, SUV and Truck vehicles in the US for that very reason unless you pay some one to remove it or do it yourself either way unless he was going downhill at a steep grade he still wouldn't get above120-125mph tops. Why do cops always lie abought how fast a car was going..

Former Cop wife here. Every candidate who is of interest to law enforcement agency, must pass a background check which includes a psychological component. Further, the department will reach out to neighbors, former teachers, employers, priests and so on. In fact, I have been contacted, post divorce, when he switched agencies.

There are different types of leave. They are put on leave to make sure they are safe and approved for duty. They cannot remain on duty if they’re about to be fired. Plus everything goes according to their union contract, which usually has tiers of punishment before they can be fired.

The takeaway from this video is that US cops are completely out of control and when caught the system finds any technicality they can find to minimise they’re culpability.on the odd occasion they are convicted , even for the most egregious of crimes the penalties they receive are merely a slap on the risk compared to what a civilian would receive. Even for cold blooded killings their sentences in most cases are minimal at best, it’s obvious that anybody can seem to get a job policing in the US.
