What's amazing is that they're already strong enough to do the jump. It would probably only take them a month or so to really hone in on the technique. Ballerinas are amazing!

Yes, I agree. I think they're used to graceful movement so they're not focusing on generating momentum via power and really forcing their hips to turn with the leg. If they just imagined something annoying to kick at I'm sure they'd all nail it. 😂

I love that the ballet teacher does this. All types of styles regardless of gender styles should be taught. Never know when there is a lack of dancers in performances and someone has to step in (happened to me for a dance show, someone didn’t show up, and I had to step in their place to learn their moves).

That’s actually the owner’s (Slawomir) son🤎 he has another son as well, both who teach at the same academy ! You can tell as they all have the same last name & all look alike as well !

I noticed that a lot of them were doing a ballet leg lift, more than a kick. As in, their upper half, was still vertical. They weren't leaning their body with the kick. That's why the dude's kick looks graceful like a swan, and theirs didn't.

That makes sense. There was something more dynamic and kapow about his kicks, and outside of the practice and experience, I couldn't pinpoint exactly why his looked more like a kick and more "masculine". Theirs looks feminine and like the kick part is fighting the rest of their body. (Except one of the girls in the beginning in the middle of the room, kinda rounder. She looked like she was letting the kick and her leg lead the rest of her body, but she had less control and center than they. But that almost seems like that's what you have to unlearn. Like they kept trying to keep to a spin that's centered on the point of a toe, when it's not). Ah it's like there's a weight shift on where the center of the spin is, and their bodies dont quite comprehend it.

Female ballet kind of selects against female jumpers as you need extra muscle for it, not the lean long legs you need to get into a pro ballet school as a female. Yes they still jump but not like the boys can.

His foot is facing the back wall before he even lands where as the girls were facing the front wall or side wall. It's really intriguing to see how differing dance styles influence leg work and feet work.

As someone who has done neither ballet or karate… it seems like they could go well together! Ballet is all about control and grace (from a noob perspective) and seems like it would be a great addition to any training you would do for Karate. Or a great addition to almost any other sport TBH.

I love that in ballet women are so graceful and the men's jumps and turns seem more like you're training for martial arts. Oh, how I miss my ballet days... even though I sucked and was forced into it in order to join a tap company that recruited me lol

I had to quit ballet young because of an accident and my academy had like no male students (small town) I've always wondered when the differences in training start, age-wise. I can't find much info on it (and fun fact right now I'm writing a thing that has that as an important plot point). You wouldn't happen to know anything about that? As a former martial artist, this is exactly what I thought! The men’s jumps were very reminiscent of the jumping or “flying” kicks in Tae Kwon-Do.

i do karate, and i thought the jump looked a lot like a condensed tornado kick- not super practical, but it sure looks cool!

In the first exercise, none of the girls kicked. They dragged their leg, without bending it for an effective kick. If you kick in the spin, you can get an even more effective spin, than when dragging a straight leg through the spin.

Love seeing highly skilled individuals trying new things.

Why is this giving me the same energy as when we are short staffed at the store and I'm suddenly sent in to do a job I haven't been prepared for 😂😂

In many cultures, men’s dance was rooted in showing off their warrior’s skills. Dance and Martial Arts are more closely related historically than many people know.

When the coach said "Good!" I felt way too much happiness.

I love male ballet dancers. They really have tough, physically challenging routines. It annoys me that they don't get more respect in our culture.

They are more impressive than many "traditional" athletes, because ballet dancers do extremely physically demanding things and have to look fluid and artful while doing it. I did ballet for 15 years and always wanted to have a guy in our classes, but alas

Well, they can use it to land a hit on a very tall man that is making a fool of himself and not listening to anyone and is hostile/aggressive.

i think it’s lilarose (?) in the front who was really into it and genuinely trying is so cute she was lowkey killing it 😭😭 as a figure skater this seems so normal to me so to see most of them flail around after trying it twice is so funny

Not only is his technique smooth like butter, he's RIDICULOUSLY consistent at it, it's crazy.

Most ppl look like crap the first time or 2 they try something. Every attempt gets better. The first leg is what you focus on. It stays bent. Then just follow with the second leg and just lift it up as it follows the first. Excellent ladies! Do it more! ❤❤❤

It really showcases the ways that these high end performances have been optimized for the different male and female body styles. The hip to shoulder ratios, and above/below waist body mass differences, really change how people move
