And that's where bono got the inspiration for vertigo
Edge - "The thing I am most proud of is my modesty." Hilarious. The Edge is awesome.

I love his humour :))
These guys are my surrogate parents...I grew up with U2 constantly coming out with fresh but unmistakably U2 sounding music. For this, I definitely consider myself lucky. My mate gave me a copy of their album in primary 4 and that was it, hooked for life.

I don't know your age but I feel the same. Born in late 60's and my brother came home from europe with the boy album. At this time in my life I was so sick of FM radio and Led Zepplin, The Who, Rolling stones, etc. No knock on any of those great bands but FM radio in middle America was just awful playing the same songs over and over. U2 was just like this punch in the face that knocked me out from a bored slumber. I will always love them for the direction they took me musically as it changed drastically at his point. Politically, I have always found them to be borderline insufferable, but I love their music.
The Edge is so beautiful.

Larry probably punched Bono too when the Lemon malfunctioned during Popmart, trapping them inside it

he doesn't remember, he said. They probably dont physically fight as much now they're adult men, as when they were younger.
I am 41 and U2 are the Beatles of our generation! They are amazing!
these guys are great. love it. gentleman at their finest.
Bono....much love from Belgrade Serbia waiting to see you. 🍀🍀🍀🍀
That's when you know when you're true friends,, when he hits you, and still love him.
Bono has donated and personally spent mass amounts of his fortune on charity. The purpose of ONE (The organization that he started and that you are referring to) is to get governments to put more into foreign aid. It also serves to bring attention to private charity. ONE, however, does not accept money donations.
Yes, I have joined the ONE campaign. Thank you for advocating for it. :)
absolutely the best, no one even comes close to u2
His eyes are sensitive to light, apparently from years of photographers' flashes going off in his face for most of his life. And he's a multi-millionaire rock star who is an immensely great singer and fantastic song writer/lyricist. If anyone can wear sunglasses indoors, it's fuckin' him, pal.
Best band ever!
The best concert that I had ever been to
After all these years they are still friends...!!

Being the best, biggest, boldest band in the world, sure you're gonna have some haters. The good thing is that you've got billions more people who love you do who gives a fuck about haters

@lulli215 No problem! During one of the early gigs,Larry's drumkit fell apart and he stopped playing and tried to fix it.Bono was in a bad mood that day and he thought that Larry did that on purpose.He lifted the drumkit up to find Larry crouching and fixing his drum.Bono got really angry and Larry ran off the stage as Bono chased after him.Edge ran after B thinking that he would hurt Larry and grabbed B by the hair.They had a little fistfight and E throw a right hook on B. It was the only time.

I guess David was pushed to the... Edge? 😂
I love your comment! In response to some silly people who put Bono down, you simply said "Haters. They gonna hate. Much respect for U2." You took what could have taken a couple of paragraphs to say & condensed all the truth that's necessary into simple, (dare I say elegant) clarity! Almost like a haiku. Yup - as you said: "Haters. They gonna hate." Much respect for Bono & his wife Ali as human beings & humanitarians & U2 as serious & excellent musicians.
This video got me through the title alone.
Jonathan Ross looks just like a 1986 Peter Gabriel!
Pretty sure the show they're talking about where the two of them fought - as mentioned in their biography - was right here in New Haven, CT. a club called Toad's Place. I can't even imagine it. Maybe U2's most punk moment ever... who woulda thought the Edge and Bono would get into a fight on stage!?
Thats the dumbest thing to dislike a person for.. Even though its not true..
Bono is awesome. Everyone has their faults and all these people making smart arse remarks about Bono should maybe take a look at themself sometime and realise no one is perfect. You can't possibly have the kind of self-belief and self-confidence that Bono has always had without also sometimes being a bit over the top, pushy, arrogant perhaps. Our weaknesses are inextricably bound up with our virtues and they can never be separated.

Bono is a bit grandiose and he gets crapped on for his outspoken political views and activism, but the amount of hate he gets is ridiculous. He's done a lot of good for the world in his own way and tried to use his status as a celebrity to help people rather than harm them. Considering how many musicians have been exposed as sexual predators or awful people in recent years, Bono and the rest of U2 seem like saints in comparison.
Haters. They gonna hate. Much respect for U2.
I ways thot of edge and bono as spock. and. kirk..always together
"easy bono, that hurts the biddy."
So funny 😂
its sad to think that they're maybe the last rock band with a bit of 80's rock, which was the best era for music...specially rock. WHERE DID ALL THE ROCK BANDS GO? please u2, don't stop playing. You're the last of ur kind.
i don't have in primary 4 what year did that come out?
@andtimebecomesaloop I think U2 is one of those bands that transends mainstream or underground. they just are what they are they dont try to follow the pop culture they create it and for some reason their music which is great music was accepted by mainstream
Their best music may be far behind them. But they made great records for about 20 years or more. No other band can say the same. Or what?

@SoccerRockNY I did too... hell, I still giggle.
@thecasinoschool4 pop singers use autotune. Bono doesnt. nuff said
BonoLightier - I totally agree
Very telling that the BBC decided to highlight this to promote the show. It also shows that U2 have survived and are indeed a democracy. Not because each member gets paid the same and they all have to agree but because even now you wouldn't past The Edge to do it again!
@laboloche the second line is the name of the band?
U2 THE BEST BAND OF THE UNIVERSE
@Dandramere here here!
On Bono Biography Channel part 2 what is the song with nice guitar solo at 5:20
Hey, SHIT HAPPENS when your in a band.
Does anybody know what show this actually was that he is talking about? Does the U2 Live Documentary book talk about it? -michael
@witchypoo71 He gets all Rock God Angry at his guitar at the end of Gone on the Boston Elevation DVD. It's spectacular!
@tavi921 what music do you like?
@jerwinrocks hey hey hey i didnt mean ALL metalheads yes, i forgot to mention that
@alpers "have you ever come to blows?"
Is Bono related to Robin Williams. Because they both look alike.
@walenski2404 What do you mean? There's still light on the set... it's not dark :P
Bono's platform is, ironically, contingent on his success. There is not enough money in the world to solve the structural problems in Africa, but Bono has done a good job shedding a spotlight and mobilizing others. I think if you feel "preached to" that's a personal issue. Plus ...... they're very talented musicians.
U2 are sexy and I love America and I am going to embrace the entire world and fill it with rainbows,angels, and kisses. I love Bono and all of U2 in every sense.

He has to, his eyes are sensitive to certain types of lighting
@iceskatergurl I met some good people at Oktoberfest in the KW years ago. one of them had that handle (I think) - took me a few minutes to remember (it was oktoberfest!) that couldnt possibly be you could it?
@andtimebecomesaloop cant agree more.
Id heard the story of this gig before but it didnt mention the punching. Its in their 80s bio. I guess back then they werent at peace with it.
How so?
@carleydavid those are not english accents
@unusedsn The question is: can you change the system from within the system? Hate is not a good feeling, indeed. It comes when love fades away. But why was there love first? The problem: Bono did it as Bono, people got envious. That's it. That's why I prefer to hang on bands like the Vibrators. There's not too much attitude around there ... just pure beauty of Rock ...
robin williams @ 0:50 anybody???
@whatnowgop The Osmonds xD
that must have felt awesome
its fascinating these guys like joe and steven lars and james bono and edge where theyve been together since they were kids longer than theyve been with their wives bono and edge seem to still be friends lars and james have patched things up steve and joe cant stand each other but slash and axl seem to enjoy each others company and thats a miricle on itself but man you must get mighty sick of each other.
Surely Bono doesn't call him 'The Edge' behind closed doors? Surely he uses his real name?
@bastardfingers lol i guess you must be one of the people the responder above was writing about
Edge should have played Bill the butcher in Gangs of New York
HAHAHAHA
@walenski2404 because you're still here
@bordonbert wouldn't you agree that if you didn't U2 you wouldn't be wasting your time watching this video and start trolling?

Everyone saying 'it's a silly name the edge ' but no one understands the history of te band. You have to look at the reasons - not silly for the edge. he fell off the stage at the Live Aids show, its a famous show from the 80s. He fell over the high edge of the stage and went to a person down there, its all on film at youtube, look at it! So he's called the Edge, do you get the idea? now, its cool idea...

His nickname was given by Bono because of the shape of his face. Its got nothing to do with Live Aid. Bono was originally Bono Vox (after a hearing aid shop in Dublin) until he found out it meant good voice so he dropped the vox bit.
IS HE WELSH
@hpdrwiz Because he's registered his home address as abroad, therefore it limits the time he can come to the country in which he owe's taxes, even though he has an address here. He's shifted his tax from Ireland to the Netherlands. Ireland is a tax haven. And amongst the absurd benefits it has offered is tax free status to artists. U2 have apparently exploited this to ensure that no tax has been paid on the royalties they have earned from their songs
why do people hate bono atleast hes tried to do something about poverty??

Rock Gods? Leave it out!!!
@witchypoo71 Evans might be the oldest angry young man ever!!!
@Quontomleeeep Why? I'm stating a fact
@Brad21121 I disagree
Ok
@mikebarryrout he wears them because he has sensitive eyes. If you didn't know he spends tens of millions of dollars every year on the hungry and sick. He's been knighted by France and Britain, and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because of all his charity work. I'm pretty sure he's more humanitarian than musician, honestly.
I don't care about anyone's views on world hunger, peace or shit like that. Honestly It's really all about the music!!! They do create great music to listen to, and their live shows are great!!!. I stopped listening to Bono years back. I only listens when he sings.
@Brad21121 Why don't you start a band, so you can be even worse. Funny how you think they're living off of one album. War, Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby have all sold millions. The remasters have been decent sellers even though nobody really buys music anymore.
Bono has really aged within the last two years
The Edge is now my hero lol
Bono is one of the great artists and activists of his generation, and he's a tireless worker with a brilliant intellect and a pure heart. But he's a bit smug, so I don't think much of him.
Any 1 thinks U2 are no good needs help
