When The Afghans Lost To Britain | Afghan History

The 19th century was a pivotal period for Afghanistan as a political state. Emerging out of the dying embers of the Durrani Empire, the state fought hard for its existence; first in the shape of civil wars between contenders and then surviving a British invasion during the First Anglo-Afghan War. Thanks in part to the diligence and acumen of Amir Dost Mohammad Khan, by the 1870s Afghanistan seemed to have a semblance of political stability that could be used as a platform from which to embrace the modernisation of the country. But Afghanistan’s destiny would be interrupted - as the country became embroiled in the rivalry between Britain and Imperial Russia once again. In 1878, British India would invade the mountainous country for the second time in 40 years - this time hoping to learn from the mistakes it had made the first time.

British defeated Afghans and installed their Puppet Ruler in 1880 but in Afghanistan children are taught another history where British were total looser and afghans were victorious. This led to pseudo chivalry of Afghans till Today.Even before Maharaja Rajit Singh also established his government through puppit in Kabul.Afghans needed to learn the True history not a Concocted story.

Since you are from Punjab, you would love to dream about this shit. Anything that let's you sleep for a while. Afghans rules over Punjab for centuries. Starting from 1025, Afghans frequently took the hold of Punjab for the next couple of centuries to come. Your slave-like mentally has been very well appreciated by Britishers which is why they were easily able to rule you guys. In fact not just Britishers, every other army that went through Punjab managed to control it. When it comes to Sikh, they could only dream of even stepping into FATA where Mehsud and Wazir tribes alone were waiting for them. Jalalabad and Kabul were far from their dreams. Afghans have defeated regional and global powers through decades of resistance. Don't try to come us with Sikhs just because you are from Punjab. The world knows the Afghan history, stop reading Pakistan Studies, get your history updated. And yeah, stop being jealous, history remembers the ones who stand up and take the fight. Not the ones who prioritize their life over dignity. Cheers !

Afghanistan has been conquered many times in the past but only successfully by long-term invaders who settle the country. Like many others, Britain didn't want to do that. Most of the current population have Mongol blood from the time of Genghis Khan who didn't invade and set up military camps, his army settled the country and wiped out many of the tribes they found there. It is a fragmented tribal society that has often been defeated in the field but then relies on tribal guerrilla war. Now that the Taliban has established links to so many international gangsters to sell their opium to, they now have a natural "resource" and the wealth to solidify their authority in the country.

The oppression of Afghans by NATO is a continuation of the three Anglo afghan wars and still the NATO war ended the same way. It is a shame we do not just allow this country to be, especially since the current sanctions and isolation is detrimental to their youth.

NATO wasn't involved in the afgan wars, that was independent countries like the US and UK and don't get it twisted, If they wanted to the US could've stayed or even wiped Afghanistan out, they only left because they thought the goal of stability was accomplished which turned out wrong when the cowardly afgan military we trained refused to fight after we left

I don't know why people think we lost this war? Afghans clearly claimed victory because they inflicted many casualties to the British. All the Brits did was trash bazars in Kabul and fled.

Almost every single battle was won by the British. Also, the British forced a peace on the Afghans that was hugely unfavorable to the latter. So how did the Afghans win, you think?

Did Indian settlers after partition of India have lineage in modern British establishment of Pakistan 1947 ? Was British led Indian occupation of southern Khorasan an illegal and immoral occupation similar to the British led occupation of Palestine by European convert to Judaism who had no lineage to the Arab lands 1948?
