Still though. Imagine if someone knew a safe non-painful way to remove the symbiote from you, but instead chose to literally painfully kill you because "you might regenerate". That's a dick move anyway you slice it, he chose the option that would at worst, outright kill Wolverine if the bleeding is faster than his regeneration and cause him to be in extreme, extreme pain for who knows how long until his body regenerates.

Wolverine is sitting there staring at his legs waiting to be picked up because Spider-man doesn't want to take a few minutes to clear the symbiote. And if you're wondering it does take less time for the X-men to pick him up and put him back together than for him to regenerate his lower half.
