Didn't he have a rib injury in that Indian Wells final? I guess injuries are part and parcel of Rafa's career 😢

Yes even till Wimbledon, he was in such good form but that injury against Fritz in quarters, derailed the entire year and he hasn't been able to recover the same form since 😢

Yes if you watch the NetFlix version of the IW final you would be surprised to hear than Nadal could barely move by the end of that match! They were trying to emphasise Fritz had a minor injury... (I think that was why Nadal stubbornly hung on to win the Wimbledon match despite being in a lot of pain. )

Nadal was amazing in that tournament. Norrie and Medvedev played well but he was just untouchable. Probably the best he played all year besides RG!

The rib injury costed him to loss his streak .. otherwise rafa is clear favourite in Indian Wells ,Monte Carlo and Barcelona before Roland Garros in 2022

This was probably his final hard court, though I not hope so. Injuries ruined him everytime, had it not been for injuries he could have been Novak a great fight. Novak deserves his place as well..
