That was a set up.

My neighbor was hit every single time a Chewy package arrived. Not a shock, it was a mother Racoon and three babies. The smallest baby would stand dead center in the motion tracking camera while mom and the others ran off with the loot.

If a parcel can't be delivered, either a neighbour is asked to take care of it ( it has to be signed) , if not , the package must be taken back and a note is put into the letterbox, from which post office to be collected. The deliverer is not allowed to leave it unattend. We hardly have problems in GERMANY.

Same case in Kenya. The delivery company has to confirm availability before delivering. The customer has to sign confirmation of delivery if not then the company holds your package till you can get it.

That's not how things work in the US. The USPS doesn't want to get involved when a package is delivered by an independent company like Amazon or UPS, etc.

Give me country living any day. My driveway is 1/4 mile long with 2 motion detectors and 2 cameras concealed along the way. There are signs on the front gate that inform shipping companies to make deliveries to the front door only. Leave nothing at the front gate. I have 3 dogs ranging from 80 lbs. to 115 lbs. Although the have a 1/2 acre dog yard, when we are outside, they are with us and if they are in their yard, they definitely let us know when someone comes down the drive. All very territorial. My wife and I are retired and one of us is at home 99.9% of the time and both of us are quite proficient with firearms and when one lives out in the country, a firearm is always nearby. Not so much for unwanted "visitors", but for unwanted critters as well (coyotes, snakes, etc.) Porch pirates? No problem. MAKE MY DAY. My heart goes out to all those that are unable or unwilling to participate in our lifestyle.

Why are you blaming the neighborhood and not the PEOPLE who probably do not live in the Neighborhood?

Here in Germany, no delivery person is allowed to leave anything on your doorstep. If they don't find one, they take the parcel back with them and put a notice in the letterbox. Leave it with a neighbour and put a notice in the letterbox. Delivery to a post office packing station. (Amazon now also has some) Or what many people do if they don't want all this and they have the option, they give their workplace as the delivery address.

I don't know - in my country you can install a bolted down delivery box at your house to be used by every delivery service. You leave it unlocked when you expect a delivery that the delivery service can put the delivery inside and when they close the box it is locked and only you can open the lock with your key. Sure it can still be broken in, but that can't be done in a stealthy way. Another advantage is your delivery is safe from the weather like rain, snow etc. Why don't the US-American does it that way?

Amazon gives an option to have your package delivered to a secure authorized drop off location. I'm not sure how it is in other towns, by me I can have a package (nearly any size) sent to Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh and several different local stores. Even my Dollar Tree has an Amazon locker section inside the store. Unless someone has physical limitations and homebound - there's really no reason not to use a drop off center (I would add something to the special notes to the driver section to ring the doorbell at the time of delivery and also designate/create a delivery area). I don't have a car so I bike to the store and put everything in my backpack or walk with my wagon if the package is too big to carry.

@@RM-vc2fc I'm not disputing your statement, but that doesn't address, other delivery companies; UPS, USPS, DHL, etc. that just leave packages out in the open. I always have my Amazon deliveries dropped at a secure locker. With any other delivery company, I make sure I'm home. I would love for any delivery driver reading these comments to explain why they don't conceal their deliveries.

I don't understand this delivery mechanism. In India delivery guy rings the door Bell and hand over the package, if not takes them back. And if it's a valuable then the delivery guy from his handset software sends a 6 digit code to the cell number which places the order standing outside the door and the immediately rings the door Bell, if he does not get the code no delivery.
