The thing is : against Carlsen, any strong GM will never feel like they blundered; they will feel like they played their best moves. But Carlsen will grind you down slowly and surely, with subtles (one could say insignifiant) advantages. And, all of a sudden, unknowingly, they all add-up as a deadly blow.

I swear, realising you've made a mistake JUST after making it and watching as your opponent's Queen zips across the whole board to snipe a hanged piece makes me jump every time.

I like how Magnus just keeps looking confused over opponent's moves like he just learned the rules yesterday and don't understand why his opponents just don't use the optimal move.

He's probably confused because it's different from the moves he thought he would make. Specially when Hikaru blunders, then I'm sure Magnus is thinking if he missed something that Hikaru saw considering how few blunders they usually make.
