The Rage Against The Machine thing was fantastic at the time. A sort of grassroots movement swelled up in the UK in response to the X-factor winners clogging up the airwaves at Christmas time and getting the coveted Christmas no.1 single. As a response loads of people bought the RATM single instead, it got to no.1 at Christmas and it now gets played yearly at Christmas time in the UK haha.

Context for the RATM clip: that year everyone in the UK got sick of the fact that whoever won X Factor that year would automatically get xmas #1 and so there was a successful campaign to put this song to the top of the charts instead. It was absolutely glorious. Simon Cowell was so bitter.

It's much more about the Rodney King incident and rampant racism in general than it is about censorship. Yeah they say "fuck you I won't do what you tell me" a bunch, but it's at the end of the song and it's referring to all the other stuff they brought up before. "Some of those that work (police) forces are the same that burn crosses" is a much better line for encompassing the meaning behind the music. E: This verse is probably even better. A 6:46 situation had a fatal ending in my country. A car lost control and ran over a cameraman who was reporting the traffic (yeah ...some tv stations are cheap and make the cameraman report stuff)... Bolivar jurado in Panama... It was really sad.

Ozzy Man genuinely one of the best channels on YT, great humour and being a conscientious human being with fund raising for sick kids and great interviews with both Ukranians and Russians. A great example for those who are doing their new house tours and go uber heavy on the merch selling.

imagine the bbc guy saying that to the band: so guys u know the part where u say "fuck u i wont do what tell me", i m telling u that u cant do that on live tv. got it. carry on. this show is gonna go perfectly.

When Rage decided to go ahead and sing the official lyrics...they became true legends. My favorite band ever. Just saw them live in Madison Square garden in NYC, on 8/12/22. ❤️👍👍

Have to say mention it , its Rage for the machine they stopped being ratm a while ago, so to alot of fans they are far from legends and now are basic .

My school band rehearsed 'Killing In The Name' one evening in the gym after hours. Just after I finished screaming the final "Mudderfudgerrrr!", our extremely strict Principal started slow hand-clapping before stalking forwards out of the shadows, his black cape flowing out behind. He said, "That was excellent. However, if you perform that at the Festival of Music next month, I *guarantee* that you will be the first boys to be expelled from this school in 350 years" 😂

Rage against the machine. What about that states “yeah, we are going to conform to your standards”. What were they thinking, booking Rage for a Xmas show 🤣🤣🤣

Rage on Behalf of the Machine* is their name now. Because they're in line with and support the corporate/mainstream narrative now. They were never rebels, they were just pro-communists. And now that the mainstream narrative is pro-commie, they have nothing to rage against anymore 🙃

It’s because people were protesting that Simon Cowell controlled the music industry and whoever he tapped would always win most sold Christmas album, or something like that. So people protested and said to buy this single from Rage Against the Machine. That’s why their early 90s song was charting in the U.K in 2009.

That Laura Ingraham clip is the modern equivalent of Abbott and Costello's "who's on first".

The first clip is crazy to me, I wouldn’t have known it, but I went to school with that kid, literally about a week ago I saw him come up as a Facebook friend recommendation and I had no idea that he was a journalist / reporter, and I saw this video of him, we both came from a town of about 4,000 people and now you’re reviewing him in Australia haha, it’s really a small world haha.

Good bit about Rage...Had the privilege to see them at a small venue back in 1996. The Roots opened the show. Still one of my favorites after all this time.

@@TheDieselndust what did they do? my favourite songs during lock down were ratm - i wont do what you tell me, muse - uprising and greenday - warning. there are probably some other great anti establishment songs out there, but those were my go to's. ive lost respect for foo fighters now though after they publicly tried to get rid of free speech with the whole joe rogan debacle. that was pathetic of them.

Ozzy Man I discovered your channel a week or so ago and I love it! You're like the Ozzy version of Ray William Johnson's =3 youtube show back in the day when it was in it's prime.

I’m not a fan of Laura Ingram, but, to be fair, it did sound like he was trying to describe a news story on her show. All he had to do was say, “The name of the show is You, spelled Y O U.”

Asking a band called 'rage against the machine' to be censored, and to mind their p's and q's, when that's not something they're known for, you can't be surprised or mad. That's exactly why we love ratm...

Reminds me of Jim Morrison being asked not to sing "girl we couldn't get much HIGHER" back in the day. They should know by now that it's a rock and roll imperative to emphasize the word you ask them not to say. I still remember in the 90s, RATM was on Saturday Night Live. They came back from commercial break, showed the band for a second, then cut back to commercial break. They never played their second song. Turns out, during rehearsal, they were told they can not fly the flag upside down on stage. Seconds before coming back on, they ran out and hung the flag.
