When LEGO bricks get seriously twisted

Ойын-сауық

Sometimes even I think I’ve exhausted the interesting possibilities in certain bricks, but then builds like these happen and I’m genuinely shocked at how simple, and absolutely astounding they are. I suspect there is no end to the amazing builds yet to be discovered-and I will keep trying. : )

Piece counts for all Twisting Towers (in 1x2 bricks):
Blue Twisting Square: 2816
Yellow Twisting Triangle: 2496
Orange Twisting Pentagon: 3520
Build Height: 124cm / 48.5in in 128 layers
Note: I did sneak in a few 1x1 bricks at the top of each build to even out the top layer so these are not pure 1x2 brick builds-but they’re dangerously close.

What I love most is how the solid color makes the structure look completely homogeneous, but then the light sweeps over it and reflects off of the individual bricks in almost a scale-like or pixelated pattern, it just feels so unreal.

Yeah, I was saying to myself the whole video about that I love the way light reflects off of low-poly things. Of course, this usually takes place in video games, but also in real life. Like the indentations in a door, or shattered glass on a bar's floor(wanted to say "..., or the blades of grass on the forest floor, neither of which are very low-poly. 3d prints- however, are usually more like this. Juuuuust wanted to make a little rhyme :) ).

I only recently learned what makes an “illegal” build for LEGO; but isn’t that specifically for like competitions and featured build events? When it comes to stuff like this I can’t imagine that even the diehards are gonna make a fuss… … … actually never mind; when I was watching the first part I recall thinking aloud “and a thousand Master Builders are screaming in unison ‘you aren’t supposed to strain the bricks like that!!!’”

Very impressive! As usual, the repeated doubling of the primitive assembly leads to a surprising shape, while making for a succinct video presentation. Each of the towers you built appears to be just shy of a complete half-twist after 5 doublings (32 copies of the primitive), independent of the number of sides. I'm curious if I'm mistaken, and how many more layers are required to complete the half-twist? Also, the camera shots down the tubes are awesome, and it's always good to see caveman-for-scale! 😎
