I hate when I hear people saying that the younger generations dont want to work. I literally want to work, have been looking for a job for over a year now, but no one will hire me, and I think part of the reason is because I want to attend classes, but apparently I cant do that because employers demand open availability at all times. Wtf

This. A lot of the older generations have this mindset because getting a job is significantly harder now than back then. Instead of learning and trying to understand most simply yell at us instead tho.

I'm happy to work. I like working. I'm a bit of a compulsive overachiever. But I also want to live indoors. If working for someone means I'm gonna be living in my car eating out of the dumpster, then no, I don't want to work! 😅

Servers, too! I knew a server who drew the line at anything gross, like spitting in a Karen's food. But if someone was being super rude, he'd "accidentally" spill their food on them as he reached to set it down.

To be fair, dealing with demanding customers isn't the issue, it's dealing with their entitled and shitty attitudes. I have had demanding customers who made me happy to help with their requests, all smiles and charisma. It brightens your day when your work is appreciated and they honestly thank you for it, but people like this Karen can make you silently fume for hours and exhaust your emotional reserves in just one interaction.

I work in a grocery store deli. From time to time a customer stops by wanting a custom sandwich. Our deli wasn't equipped to do that, there's no sandwich station, and we don't have the ingredients. But then they'd get a manager and the manager sided with them. So I'd have to tell the customer "okay hold on" and then walk through the entire store gathering the ingredients for them - the bread aisle, the produce aisle, the dressing aisle, the pickles/olive aisle etc... So that would probably take 10 minutes on its own. Then I have to slice everything. Then I would struggle to find how to price it, because we didn't have a label for a custom sandwich. By that point a lot of customers were whining about how long it was taking compared to like subway or something. It usually takes around 20 minutes - I'd tell the customer to go shop while I made it, but some insisted on standing there. After a while management realized they were losing money on these custom sandwiches because we'd just use a bit of dressing, two slices of bread, a few pickles, and then put them away. They'd expire before someone ordered another custom sandwich, wasting everything. So thankfully now we don't have to do it.

You'd have thought after the second time, management would have arranged it so customers knew they either COULD NOT ORDER a custom sandwich, or told the higher management that they had a splendid idea, and had everything at a sandwich station, right there at the deli, without having to shop for everything in store, only to waste most of the ingredients

The complaints of how long it takes when they're the one making it take forever with all their demands- also- the fact that people say "Oh the younger generation doesn't want to work anymore!" nah, we do want to work. We just don't want to be disrespected by the older generation who thinks we owe them something. The thing is, nobody wants to be paid in pennies just to be berated and overworked on a daily basis. People working minimum wage have to work five jobs just to afford half of their rent and they're expected to take abuse day in and day out while working shifts that keep them on their feet longer than the human body can normally withstand. It's not that we don't want to work, it's that we don't want to be treated like slaves.

I make cookies and flan on occasion to sell to family and friends and at local events. My grandma was like this lady- She'd ask me for cookies, then when I made them, she always had a complaint about them. The type she asked for isn't exactly how she wanted it. The amount she wanted isn't exact (it's roughly 5 dozen for $25). She doesn't like the kind of chocolate chips I used. She'd try to scrape whatever family discount she could out of me when I made them for her, or would ask me to change the cookies after I'd delivered them. She'd never ask me to take them back though, and every single time the box was empty when I asked how she and the family or guests liked them. People just love to complain.

Wherr etou can pay your employees half pennies on the dollar.

Simple, create a little customized muffin menu. A dollar extra for salt, another dollar for sugar, perhaps another dollar for warming it (normally free if they are nice about it), and an extra dollar for cutting it in half. Pretty sure they will only buy one and probably never will come back (how sad).
