Yes they are, same with those damn “tar snakes” especially around on/off ramps. There’s TONS of them in my city. Almost laid my bike down on one riding an on-ramp with the sun blocking the view of the road.

When the white cord shows through, you’ve gotten your money’s worth out of that tire. Seriously, don’t be a fool.

Also watch out for tar snakes- the black patches to fill cracks in the pavement. If you really wait too long, the tire cords start to show and the tire becomes less round and feels terrible while riding, greatly increasing crash chances (learned the hard way). Shinko tires are likely false economy- they wear out so much faster you likely save money and crash damage costs by getting Michelin tires. Same for Chinese batteries dead after maybe a year and a half, instead of longer lasting Yuasa batteries.

Just learned about my tires after riding my first bike all season. Tires are 8 years old! First two sessions in the below 40s with wet roads and the back tire was a Honda SlipnSlide. I’ll be getting new tires soon. Going for the chain and sprockets too.

Thanks for hi-lighting 'SAFETY' rather than shine & speed in this vid. Of course a shiny & powerful bike is something to make it attractive. However without safety as the main ingredient, one can loose that gleam in the eye and thrust under foot. Indeed one can wind up with no sight in the eyes, mobility of a body in one piece and thus a bike in a 1000 pieces due to foreseeable danger out there on the pavement. By the way, have you got any late-model Indian cruisers in your inventory at present?? Looking to purchase before Apr.2022.

I got the still original front tire on my 2013 Yamaha Stryker and am only now wanting to change it with 21k miles. Rear is getting its third replacement. Took it for a ride two days ago and it was trash on the highway all shaking and stuff. Rear tread center is like less than 2/32 and the front is maybe 3/32 but is dry rotting like right in thr contact patch and starting to show near the bead. Is what it is, thank God nothing has happened with the front tire all these years

I live in Indiana Pennsylvania (western pa) and just purchased a back tire for my v rod from a professional motorsports place in Kittanning. I was super excited to put this Pirelli on, get it scrubbed, and get riding. Well, that is, until I was told that the place I wanted to do the swap, won't touch it. This is when I was informed of dot codes on tires. mine ended in 4808. I was sold a 14 year old freaking tire fir $220 to put on my cvo v rod and see how long I can live. sweet!😐

Man...I just discovered your channel some days ago and watched your latest videos since then. It's really clear that you like doing this and that you like talking about bikes and everything what has to do with it. The only thing that I had to mention is that you never solve the "mistery" described in the titles. In this case, instead of talking about all the cases in which a tire is not anymore safe, like age, uneaven profile, rips, holes etc., you spent almost all the video talking about the symptoms of a flat weared tire...I think it would be better if you would choose the titles more wisely regarding of what you're going to say or focus more on the subject described by the title. Ride safe!

Bought a leftover 2020 ninja 650, back in April. Now i put about 4100 miles on it in about 4 and half months. My front tire is already level to warning track, and right side is considerably more worn than left. Rear tire is leveled out but not as bad as front. Has anybody else had the front go before the rear? Alsi any recommendations of a decent tire would be helpful, 4 months is just not acceptable, even for a oem.

Not only do you have two inches of crap...flat spot on tire....when you lean, you have merely fractions of an inch until you get beyond that “shelf edge”.....scary slip, at best....loss of traction into a dangerous slide at worst. My two cents.
