When I had a baby, my business grew without me.

This might be one of the most important videos that I've ever made. I was a little torn on making it because I have learned that there is a lot of judgment on moms and what they should or shouldn’t do, but what I am going to share in this video overrides any hesitations I have felt!
This is the video I wish I had seen when I was pregnant. Having a daughter has done something to me in terms of feeling this fuel to make sure she knows that she contains multitudes….as do I.
When I was pregnant, I received really contradictory questions and thoughts from others, unsolicited. I had to really look at things and remember that the way I structured my business allows me to detach my time from income. We generated over 7 figures in the time of me being gone. That is PROOF it’s incredibly possible.
In today’s video, I share some of the things I did to make that happen so I could take a step back while my business ran for me.
If you are pregnant or about to embark on your postpartum journey, I’d love to hear from you. Please share in the comments! We need more of that. I needed it! Still need it.

Single mom of 4 and I can tell you it is a tough road (with or without partner). I’m not my own business owner (yet) as life threw many lemons and I drank the lemonade for too long, lol. But, leaving a toxic relationship and starting over I am doing what I can with what I have and that’s in every sense of the word. With my time, money, attention, mental health and of course my kids’ needs. But I haven’t given up on entrepreneurship. Just riding out the time until my youngest kiddos can be left alone for longer periods of time. This momma will rise!!

Right!! I had my dance and Pilates studio when I was hapai and then had my daughter. I wore her to Bootcamp’s and the. Resented my studio cuz it was taking time away from the most important thing in my life at that time. For my daughter I knew I had to BE the role model because the kids learn from our actions not words. AND Looking back… female brain in infants to 3yrs absorbs the central nervous system of their mama or female care giver… I saw the stress I embodied translated to her. And that was when I went on my transformational Journey into meditation, behavior change specialist and most of all… feminine. Embodiment and allowing myself permission to take care and make space for me- because that will ensure she does the same when/if she’s a mama. And it’s THAT journey that I desire to create into a course with AA. 🙏🏽🙌🏽 working on the means to do so. Now a single mama it’s still a struggle and YOU have helped me to see I CAN level up and NOT give away time raising my two kids. ❤❤❤

Hardest best thing ever. So true😂💗 Thank you Sunny. Motherhood is a pillar of humanity. The amount of emotional work required to bring emotionally sound humans into the world is insane. We carry a great responsibility as it is and to add running a household and a business to this great work, it quickly seems close to impossible. It's sad to think how Motherhood has become severely distorted, undervalued, judged and unseen. Thank you for bringing it to light. Self love and self care are golden keys to make it manageable somehow, specially for those who take on the great task alone. I wish you strength, peace and support on this journey. Thank you for being a light to others.

Becoming a mom makes your life and brain do a 180. Everything gets thrown into the air and then sloooowly settles into its new space. As a mom of a 4 and 7 year old, I'm so glad you took the time you needed. Post partum is NO JOKE, and 4 months is still beautifully brutal (4 month sleep regression 😭). I'm so excited to continue following you and your business from this new space in your life. Welcome back!

Congratulations!! You’re so right about how no one tells you how hard it is to be a mom - I think it’s because there’s really no words for it. The only way to truly know is to be one. I’m 5.5 years in to motherhood and it’s only slightly easier because he sleeps for longer more frequently! I needed to hear that part you shared about being on your own timeline. I often struggle with feeling behind - “Why didn’t I figure out how to run a business Before I had a baby??!!” Becoming a primary caretaker at the same time as creating a sustainable business (and without much support) is taking a long time. I’m in it for the long haul and I’m committed and taking my baby steps. I just need to celebrate more often! Today I’m celebrating the fact that my son is finally wearing a newer pair of sneakers today (his worn-in comfy ones are falling apart and he’s been Very resistant to an upgrade). This is just a tiny example of where so much of my energy goes to 😅. You are light years ahead of so many new anxious moms even with your BS detector already turned on only 4 months in. That’s awesome 🤩 Sending love and well-wishes for your postpartum journey!

Absolutely agree. The fear of the unknown while pregnant was overwhelming. My 4-month maternity leave taught me to trust in my business, processes and team more than EVER. Because things went better than I could have expected, and I needed that time off more than I could have known (after an emergency c-section and a 2 week recovery period in the hospital). I'm SO beyond grateful for this business more than ever.

YESSS! Love the empowerment of mama entreprenuers coming back. We need to support each other because a lot of people just don't get it. My fave thing I heard from another mama creative was that sometimes in this season of life, working on our business IS self care. 9-5 people might not get that, but having solo time to create helps my mental health a lot and makes me a happier mom!

🌞Oh my Gosh Sunny! The BIGGEST CONGRATULATIONS and THANK-YOU! 💖It's been many years since my post-partum time (they are 21 & 19 now) but what you said really resonated so true! The BEST TIP I ever got when I had my children was to just go with what works for you. When people give you advice (all the conflicting, yet well-meaning advice) Simply say something like, "Thank-you, what a great suggestion, I'll keep that in mind." and then just go with what works for you. That way they feel heard, and you will still be honouring you. Once they feel heard, they will stop pushing it on you. I hope that helps. I love and honour you Sunny and am so beyond happy for you. What a blessed little girl to have you as her mommy. Sending you the BIGGEST HUGS! 🤗

Welcome back! I truly think we are shaped in a way to think we can’t have it all as moms. It’s total bs! I’m a single mom with a baby and toddler and working in corporate. Starting my own business now (even though I have no clue what I’m doing) and am more excited than ever to do the damn thing! It’s hard and time is not my friend but my kids will grow up seeing mama can do both, raising them and having her own business to pass on to them one day. Thank you for the encouragement Sunny! I hope your PP journey is going smoother bc I know how difficult newborn phase can be. Especially with colicy babies. Most people ask how baby is doing but forget to ask how mom is doing. Definitely is the hardest/best thing ever. ❤

Deep respect Sunny. Your perspective is incredibly mature and I wish to validate, CORRECT! I love the work you do with your company, but I am more grateful for the example you are being to so many women, yes, but men as well in these vulnerable things you share. Men need to understand these things (understatement). No one has it all together. As a 66 year old man (married for 42 years, 2 amazing adult children and papa of 2 grandsons), it is a blessing that you have and are learning (and being) so much in your young years. You will continue to be a blessing to so many for years to come. Finally, 2024 is when I will be getting back to my AA work that I had to put on pause to get more productive with real estate but my desire to complete my AA work has only grown. OMG!! Sunny, I wondered where you went! Congratulations on your baby girl! I can't believe it's been that long since we "met" your husband! I'm so happy for you!! 🥰❤🧡💛💜💙💚🥰 Boy, you and Cathrin Manning both have had a similar AMAZING year!! Regarding the whole work and motherhood topic, I LOVE how your generation is doing things YOUR OWN WAY! Times are changing for the better. I'm not a mother. I came out as lesbian at age 16, in 1984 in Amarillo Texas and let me tell you THAT was hard! I never had children although my ex and I almost adopted. But I've been with a partner who is a mother so I agree with you that mothers are MIRACULOUS. Re the business side of things, I'm 55 and I always wanted to have a business, even as an elementary school child but there was simply no way to do it unless you came from money or from a family who already had a business. So I went to college and studied biology and environmental studies (which is my passion aside from business). But in 1999, when I realized that the WWW was going to change the world, I became incredibly passionate about that because I knew that, ANYONE, ANYWHERE in the world would finally be able to start a business. It was a miracle really! I have been incredibly passionate about the web ever since and it has been wonderful watching all you young folks doing it and being such a success! It makes me so joyful! It brings tears to my eyes sometimes to see you all succeeding like has never before been possible. It makes me sad a little at the opportunities that our generation didn't have but at least we can do it now and I am working on my own online business too and I LOVE it! People are so much more free now. Anyway, thank you for this video, letting us know how you're doing. And, I'm looking forward to your videos whenever you decide to make them. Take good care!

@@SunnyLenarduzzi you’re welcome! I wanted to say my mom was a career woman in the 60’s - 90’s when most women still weren’t. She was also working on her masters and doctorate in that timeframe. She was a powerhouse raising four daughters with a difficult husband. As her daughter I am so grateful she did ALL of that and more. She inspired me and made me into the doctor, author, speakers, and entrepreneur I am today. I hear your challenges and I know your passionate spirit and big heart will prevail always. You inspire me! Thanks for being my coach! Welcoming your amazing baby to this world. Lucky one!

I completely relate to this. With the birth of my 3 year old I felt constant mixed messaging that's actually led me as an artist to create art about the incredibly absurd expectations we place on moms. It was/is my way of coping. I'm also a teacher and part of AA and was happy to sign up when I did even though it meant you were away for a while because it really proved to me the whole premise of legacy and being able to build something sustainable.

Oh my goodness this is the best video ever! Sunny you're amazing to go against the grain of society's norms and expectations of us Mums. I have 4 under 7's with my husband and run a training and consulting company online. I totally agree that if you set up the right systems and assets you CAN do both and do both well. This is what I'm in the process of doing now. Even in the home, the better your business does the more you can invest in help at home such as cleaners and childcare etc....Spending time with your little ones is a blessing and should not be undermined. At the same time, we as women still have dreams and ambition when we become Mums! By the way, it gets MUCH easier after 6 months when baby will be sleeping through the night and you will have less hormones flying around! 🥰

Hi Sunny it's soooo amazing to have you back😀. Big congrats on your beautiful baby girl, I feel so blessed that you have become a mama, cause you can serve your clients even higher, stronger and better🥰 I'm a mom of 4 and I'm looking on how to launch without burnout. One of your clients Chanel Hogue with 3 children once mentioned in the The Authority Accelerator Reviews, that after she had her 3rd child, she had to make her own version of launching since the version in the AA was too stressful. Is it possible to know more on how Chanel Hogue makes her launches differently after having her 3rd child, cause it truly speaks to my heart? Many thanks and wish you all the best Susanne in Denmark - Scandinavia.

I had to take a long step back from my business (it's doing fine) and embrace motherhood. I've felt the lowest lows as well as my highest highest over the last 8 months. Despite the nights of crying and second-guessing, I still wouldn't change a thing. ❤ Have you ever read Work, Parent, Thrive? Welcome back, mama!! I’m an entrepreneur and I’m almost 11 weeks postpartum! I have also taken a maternity leave, and it was challenging because I’m a one woman show. But I don’t regret it one bit! I’m not fully back into work yet, and your encouragement gives me so much hope for focusing on my baby and my career. It’s SO nerve wracking while pregnant and postpartum to get the questions with a judgey undertone about how you’ll manage it all. There were lots of “I don’t knows” along the way, but that’s ok! We’re out here making it happen! ☺️
