    СС части штурмовавшие замок были подразделением панцергренадерской дивизии СС Гетц фон Берлихинген. Да той самой которая воевала с Американцами с самого начала с Нормандии, американцы их прозвали дивизия Железный кулак 👊 потому что их не удавалось полностью разбить солдаты этой части были в основном из заграничных немцев и особо дерзко и стоически сражались чем другие части нацистов, ведь по сути это были солдаты без родины, их родиной был только нацистский режим, кто то из них был из югославии румынии из обратных переселенцев из сша из эльзаца ну так если по имени дивизии подумать то барон фон Берлихинген возглавлял разбойничьи отряды и управлял крестьянской войной и имел наглость выступить против самого европейского императора кайзера священной римской империи. Это качество солдат дивизии признал однажды даже Паттон. Практически уничтоженные многочисленной богатой американской армией они солдаты дивизии остатки уходили и снова собирались чтобы дать бой в отличие от потрепанных от многолетней аойны солдат вермахта мечтавших вдруг как то увидеть мельком свою семью и солдат 12й дивизии отмороженных юнцов они были довольно стойкой частью врага.     It's weird thinking that these elderly Frenchmen might have been WWI veterans, fighting in the same conditions and thinking "Now this is the battle I'm used to when I was younger" since there were a lot of forts in WWI. Heck, some of them might've even been from Verdun, fighting in fortresses like Vaux or Douaumont. P.S: I wonder how the ghost of the lord who made this castle would've felt, when the walls managed to withstand modern weaponry.

    Many of them fought during WWI, indeed. Even though several were generals and not actually on the frontlines, others were soldiers and officers in the trenches, especially this legendary tennis player taking a piss in front of the SS- Soldiers, who was rewarded during WWI with the highest ranking military medal : the Croix de Guerre.

    @@snowflake2974 It needs to be ascertained, but the grenades exploding on impact were the egg-shaped ones. Model 1939, if memory serves right. The "potato mashers", of all models, were all time-fused, with said fuse being settable (most mikely in factory) between 3 and 7 seconds.

    Jean Borotra wasn't just any tennis player but one of the biggest legends of the pre-open era.     I think I remember watching another video this years ago and I vaguely remember that the whole American, French and German working together thing supposedly started off with some random guy cycling through a small town.     @@pacus123 They probably weren't an nazi, most of the wehrmacht soldiers were forced to join the army, if not they'd get arrested for treason. Unlike the Waffen SS, dedicated Nazis that directly get orders from Hitler.

    A minor issue I found was, at 3:01 they said they removed a mg from the sherman, but the only removable gun was the one on top. The mantlet and the hull gun are very difficult to remove. But as you can see, the mg is still on the sherman

    It just occurred to me that Besotten Jenny was probably used to try to block the main entrance to Castle Itter should the SS have tried to get into the castle’s inner chambers. That Sherman tank did, along with Lee and Gangl’s men (RIP Gangl) did keep the SS outside the castle long enough for American reinforcements to arrive.
