    A ‘US Marshall’ driving around in a vehicle that’s missing the driver’s side mirror? Seems that would be against the regs as they would say. Funny the witness in the chaplain case freely admitted to the officer that he was going about 75mph at the time. I’m guessing he’ll get a pass for self-reporting, and a friendly warning to drive safely. 😉 The thing about Marshalls, FBI, DHS, etc is they don’t wear ‘police’ on their uniforms/jackets/vests. They will have the actual name or acronym for their respective agency printed.

    Be wary of embroidered badges. This incident occurred about 25 years ago prior to the creation of DHS. A US Customs Inspector in Texas gave a commando sweater to his son that had an embroidered badge on it. The son wore the sweater and pulled over a woman and committed a sexual assault and was caught. I never saw this in the newspapers, but a buddy of mine with USCS at the time gave me one of those sweaters. I worked in a Federal regulatory agency that worked alongside Customs. He asked me to cut off and give him the embroidery badge which I did and he explained the reason why. Ask to see an ID or a physical badge that has a number on it.

    It's interesting how much the police officers say things like "Okay" and "We're not concerned about that". I wonder how careful they have to be about giving defence counsel grounds for saying the defendant is being misled and therefore maybe saying stuff he wouldn't have if he'd realised the gravity of the situation. I really do admire them for not gloating out loud when the suspect gives up and starts admitting things. That's pretty disciplined - I think I'd be saying things like "got you" or "now we're getting to the truth". I know they're on duty, but it's good to see how they're trained to not do that.

    Clue 1: The Marshals would almost never issue someone a GMC pickup. It would be the most odd purchase ever, and they almost never get seized property they can make part of the fleet like some law enforcement does. It would almost always be a Ford or Chevy SUV or Sedan (although IIRC I have seen some Toyota SUVs in use). There would also almost NEVER be a case where you are activating lights and sirens without working with local law enforcement (e.g. you are chasing a fugitive). Clue 2: ID along with that badge. Most of the time you have them in the same holder, that's the commonly issued one; but some people like to keep them separate if they wear their badge on a chain a lot. It would be a laminated ID with your photo, name, district, and title printed on it; with a holographic logo and seal. You would also likely have a stack of CAC cards with you because with your badge alone you can't get into anything you normally need. Clue 3: you don't give this blah, blah about what you're doing or why. You would say where you are assigned and you can call the main # (you would know it by heart), ask for X, or Y, and they can confirm who I am, my position, and my assignment. Clue 4: You also would NOT be investigating a shooting or some strange gangs on four wheelers. That is not US Marshals jurisdiction. If they were escaped fugitives, evaded court, being transported from other law officer custody, or they were federally protected witnesses they would be in scope. A Marshal may end up traveling to check up on a bench warrant personally, but usually they would contact the correct district or have local law enforcement do so. Clue 5: The districts are not numbers. Marshals don't have squads or any crap like that. He would work in the 5th Circuit, and he would working for Eastern District of Louisiana, Middle District of Louisiana, Western District of Louisiana, Northern District of Mississippi, Southern District of Mississippi, Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas, Southern District of Texas, Western District of Texas. You would be operating within one of those districts, but you could generally be assigned temporarily to one of those others. You would not be assigned to Florida as that would be a complete different federal jurisdiction; if you were working in Florida you would need to be transferred (unless say by temporary it's going to some meeting or training for 3-4 days, but you wouldn't be going after fugitives there). Clue 6: The Texas Rangers are a cross county Texas state police force (a quite small one). They exist primarily because with the size of Texas and the low population density in most of the state you need a state fugitive force that can cross county lines. Outside of the old west days, they do not operate outside of Texas for any matter. They also would never really work with Federal agents except in really specific situations. Clue 7: If you got stopped by a speeding ticket outside your jurisdiction and you used your credentials to try to get out of it. One single phone call by that cop would get you in some serious trouble . You may use it to explain why you have a firearm or something, but you ideally would take the ticket and want the entire thing to be as clean as possible; because federal LEOs need to have nothing show up (even local crap) if you want to get those raises and promotions (they will use ANY excuse to hold them back).

    This stuff just blows my mind because anybody that wants to get around traffic can go join their local volunteer firefighter squad and get themselves a set of blue lights. Not red and blue lights. Just blue lights. Then you can use them whenever you want to get around traffic and if you get caught you'll lose them or more. Likely just get chewed out by the chief but you're not going to get arrested. And if you want to drive in a hurry somewhere, wait until you hear that fire alarm go off and go hop in your truck.

  • @JAM661

    @JAM661

    Well most volunteer fireman are not going to abuse the system becaise they do not want to inconvenience the co-workers to save them but for doing something totally stupid. Also a firefighter abusing his lights where in a small town where everyone knows everything, is not going to go well with the community. Being shunned in a small town works a lot better then in a big city. For example when the owner of the only grogery store for 30 miles tell you cannot shop there anymore, you tend to stay in the lines of society. The problem today is people have no shame.

    The case with the 18 yr old, that wasn't the Officer's superior. That was an Officer from the city/town Brandon claimed he was a cop from. I've seen the full video and on his ride to lockup after being formally charged he was getting a little pissy with the female Officer transporting him because he wanted his items and didn't want his car towed.

    that was bugging me the whole vid clip, i was like, is anyone gonna take a moment to mention this as a traffic safety violation, and a definite no-no if he was actually a cop. (facepalm)

    It's kinda bad that my folks never told me dad got arrested back in 2019. I actually wondered why he was no longer a chaplain. But he's still got that white Nissan, helped me move into my apartment with it over a month ago

    Tbh it’ll be easier, safer, smarter, etc to only make law enforcement drive marked cars any unmarked car shouldn’t be allowed to do traffic stops bc they are easier to replicate while still being hidden from actual law enforcement and it’ll help with entrapment
