The problem with this philosophy is that if you sue the department, the taxpayers foot the bill. If you sue the individual, he likely never pays it, so who really wins there? I'll just bet if these lawsuits were pulled from their pensions though, things would change real quick.

Didn’t they fire him? I heard part of the internal investigation interview and he’s really dumb. The investigator tells him what is legal to do during a traffic stop quick search or pat down , he than goes into great detail about how the department could be facing several multiple million dollar lawsuits because of his sexual assault on that driver,and after talking to this experienced officer like a 10 year old child , using easy words to understand so there can be no confusion or misunderstanding about how to proceed in the future if a similar situation happens to this very officer. He finished explaining department policy to this officer and asked him if he understands what he did wrong and how to proceed in the future. The investigator even told him that if you can’t find the drugs using a basic pat down and pocket search than just assume he doesn’t have anything on himself and let him go .If they give you permission to search the car than of course go look for anything illegal but do it so everything looks the same as when you started the search , don’t tear up someone’s car and property looking for a little bit of weed . So they take a break and return to room and the investigator ask him what would you do if you were back in time standing in front of the driver right before you stuck your hand down both sides of his underwear, what would you do ? He tells the investigator that he would take the driver to a different spot where there’s privacy for him and tell inform him of our policy on body searches and proceed with the anal cavity and under the private area where they are known to hide the dope. The investigator laughed thinking he was kidding but the officer corrected himself and added he would try not to use any curse words like I did at this stop , I need to work on that because I really care about the people and the constitution and I don’t want to violate anybody’s rights .

This is absolutely terrible. I live in Myrtle Beach. I was given a $265 ticket for having my dog off the leash. There were 10 dogs that were all off the leash playing at 8 o’clock at night. There’s nobody else on the beach and the cops drove on the sand in a big Jeep and gave everybody tickets and they were very intimidating and nasty and disgusting. How do you known my right back then I would’ve applied them but I didn’t but now I do.
