Dude was in a full-on panic attack. And breathing is a fluid sort of thing. He may be able to breathe, but the experience of feeling like you can't breathe, like you're going numb, etc, are symptoms of hyperventilating, too, and he was definitely hyperventilating.

*And* apparently has plenty of muscular control to physically resist the officers. Last I remember from high school biology is that muscles need an oxygen supply from the blood to work. If he actually had "reduced oxygen" he wouldn't be moving that strongly. I love it when logic lets you know that someone's just full of it & trying to manipulate the situation. I would tend to assume that he's on something (like meth) that increases aggression & then can go into full panic psychosis. Would explain the behavior but that influence combined with an intent to manipulate pretty much describes what we see here. Additional - Says "I can't feel my arms" hundreds of times, then at @1:08:19 he says "I can feel him sticking a needle in my arm. I feel it." Proves he's faking it.

Speaking as someone who is waiting for a double lung transplant I have to say that I get angry at a certain section of the American population who use the phrase “I can’t breathe” as a reason to try to avoid police intervention. Do these people not realise that just by being able to frequently loudly shout that they cannot breathe demonstrates that they are more than capable of breathing? I blame the fact that a felon who died (probably from fentanyl) whilst being arrested now believe that they can use this as a get out of hail card. The problem here is that in the future people may be arrested and genuinely be unable to breathe, but the police and clinicians will have become so jaded by they previous histrionics they have witnessed that a person who is seriously in respiratory distress will die.

I've been saying this for years, but wouldn't it make sense to have to take like a one day course about how to interact with cops before getting your license? Teach them their actual rights, the traffic stop process, what they can and can't do.. stuff like that. A one day course would cover all that so not too much of an inconvenience, but the information they get from that could be really beneficial. A lot of stupid stuff that escalates these stops is because people don't comply, or think they don't have to. If you want to drive, you take this course, that should help out with most of those situations I'd think

I bet you have! I was taught manors, taught my children manors and they are teaching their children. Lack of social etiquette and manors is part of cause. Parents not saying "No" or no discipline growing up. If my daughter or son ever talked to anyone like some I've seen their backside would be bright red! No I don't believe in physical punishment but for very few offensive.

How that woman didn’t immediately apologize for accusing the cop of racism I don’t get. Her husband was polite and admitted he forgot to renew the sticker. It was escalated because SHE was being ridiculous. And SHE was being racist. That last guy needs to look in the mirror. He’s his own worst enemy. He got himself in trouble for nothing. He’s lucky he wasn’t immediately tased when he went in the car. He could’ve easily pulled a gun. Now I see why cops don’t take these people seriously. Every last one pulls the “I can’t breath”. While NOBODY is touching him. His behavior was disgusting. I hope he has to suffer the embarrassment of the world seeing how ridiculous he was during the entire process. FOR NOTHING.

There is a culture that has absolutely NO dignity! Even when I was in a health crisis and in danger of dying, I never cried out or became out of control. I was using all my energy to survive and remain CALM!! I’ve been a RN for 33 years and I can tell you that people who are having trouble breathing don’t behave like this. It’s so disheartening to see an entire subset of people stooping so low. No self control or dignity. So sad, really.
