When Better Letters met Josef Samuel: Vienna’s Last Signpainter
Visit bl.ag/josef for more.
The second in the 'When Better Letters met' series of short films documents the life and work of Josef Samuel, a 4th generation sign painter and owner/founder of Vienna's incredible Schildermalermuseum (Sign Painter Museum). Directed by Tom Koch and presented by Stuart Freeman this short film takes you back to the golden age of sign painting in Vienna, and through to the modern day.
We would like to thank Colossal Media and Right Way Signs of Chicago for their continued support of this series of films. And, of course, Josef Samuel, for sharing his story with us for this one.

Josef you're an exceptional Signwriter of the highest order, your work is outstanding.
The ultimate reflection too !
Magnificent. Some see signs, some see the art. I enjoy veiwing a old "no fishin" or "keep out" sign that was lettered by a novice. Nice video. Good day. 🇺🇲

Masters !!!! Real quality !!
Amazing!! Bucket list for sure! Mr. Samuel is a truly artist!! Congrats to him and Better letters for give us this wonderful video.
Great video, but subtitles are not always readable. If you put a dark background behind the letters, they will be readable.
Today it's a battle between computers vs hand made signs ,time, money .
More please !
