Just a run down of my current colony: I have a 3 year old messor barbarus colony with around 1000 workers (could be more). They are in three of Ants Canada's larger nests with a converted reptile keeper for their outworld. I use fluon as the barrier. They get roaches, crickets, or mealworms twice a week, sugar water and bottled water in test tubes in their outworld. I also give them bird seeds twice a month. I am planning to stick with the Ants Canada nests since I already am invested with their products and they work for me. I will have to add another nest this summer and will be upgrading their outworld to a 5 gallon glass tank. I have their set up on two tiers of a large book shelf in my office with LED lights and a heat cable. I have experienced one mass escape where they had slipped between the glass of one of the nests. I used clear PVA glue to seal the edges so they cannot escape there anymore.
