The bigger, taller guy lacked skills, speed, and agility. As you noted, he only has brute force and some decent kicking basics. Not sure why the fight was billed as a Muay Thai legend vs a kickboxing prodigy. The shorter guy's much better than the bigger, taller guy; but the skills exhibited were hardly legendary. Asians exaggerate way too much in their use of terms of "genius," "legend," "prodigy," etc.

@@Deoslatt When a proper spinning backfist lands it is going to hit right on the chin or on the button just from the way that they have to be thrown. And if one connects solid it is lights out for damn near anyone. That's what the move is for. It's high risk and high reward. When I was younger I fought in an amateur circuit for a couple of years and spinning backfists were just one of those things. Not generally worrisome because they're USUALLY easy to avoid and leave your opponent wide open, but you had to be constantly aware because if they sneak a good one in when you're not expecting it and it lands then you're going to be in trouble. It's up there with flying knees and superman punches.

Wang landed more punches on himself than on his opponent, the ancient Chinese art of Wang beating wang.

I can see Sam A edging this one out. You have to do more than simply charge forward bulldozer style and throw punches. Sam A won the majority of those exchanges with preemptive clean strikes, teep disruptions, counter and slip outs. Won the kicking game easily too. Wang was more aggressive obv but without the results. For those pointing out Sam A not standing toe to toe, well yeah of course not. That's what his opp wants. Of course Sam A not gonna do that. It's fight IQ. You don't automatically win a kickboxing match because u press fwd more than the other guy, u still have to win the exchanges...Sam A won more of them.

Completely agree. If you're going push forward so hard, make every throw count. 85% were missed strikes or countered. Was surprised Wang didn't just gas himself out

People that point that out completely miss the point. The reason Wang charges forward simply is because if the roles are reversed Sam will hit his shots. So he is always is preemptive strike mode. Sam in other hand is fairly comfortable defending Wangs attacks.

good fight with lots of action, Wang needed to slow his roll down i think as he wasted a lot of shots either missing or by being blocked and aggression isnt scored as highly, Sam A countered well and picked his counters well too with hardly any missed, if the 5th round had been maybe 1 minute longer Wang might have been able to down Sam A as his aggression and stamina was overwhelming but alas was not to be

I gotta hand it to Wang. Hes got a good chin. Despite his best efforts he couldn't even knock himself out. That chin allows him to fight recklessly and for some reason, hit himself a lot too.

You’re definitely right that Wang scored more points but if you look at the whole fight especially who was in control and who scored more significant strikes it definitely goes to Sam A. He was just clearly the better fighter better ring IQ and better timing and most of the strokes Wang threw didn’t even hit

I think only casuals say this fight was tough judge. Yea he kept the pressure on him but he barely landed and kept gettin hit. I think he needs to control his temper and work on his head movement.

When a fighter keeps throwing back fists in the last round, it's obvious he/she knows that the only way to salvage a victory is a last minute KO. Wang threw-up his hands at the end to display the customary self-confidence, but he already knew that he had lost the fight (not for the lack of trying, he just kept pushing!).
