    I wish more people could see these old homes in person. They’re fantastic! Detroit was once “the Paris of the West”, and you can see it in these homes.

    Most of these houses in this area of Detroit didn't have to be torn down, they kind of just fell down. 😂 But yeah, lots of them are fixed up. Detroit is actually full of old homes like this, scattered all over, fixed up and occupied. Am I telling you news, or do you live here also?

    Early 2000’s we’d drive around Detroit and take pictures of these beautiful forgotten homes. I’m so grateful to see them restored and to know Detroit is healing🙏🏼💙

    Now that it's back to it's former glory, all the wiring replaced and asbestos removed it WILL survive the new construction where everything is just slapped together as quickly and cheaply as possible

    Beautiful homes! I would rather live in an older home than the cheap pre-fabbed homes that are going up everywhere! We are finally financially able to start remodeling our 1938 home. You did a great job!

    Totally agree, I can't remember his name now, but I followed him through the fall of Detroit around 2008 & his one man effort w/investors & renovation. Between that & different Urbex people, it was pretty amazing the old craftsmanship.

    Individually, the houses are a fine example and worthy of continued occupation but what I find sad is the setting. Its as though someone took a dolls house and dropped it on a random plot. These houses deserve to be part of a street scene that would define a community. I am torn between praise and rejection.

    These old homes were pure craftsmanship that stood the test of time. Absolutely beautiful. So many more would be saved but the costs to renovate is astronomical. Thanks to those that can afford it. ❤

    Detroit would get a lot more people buying and restoring if they didn't get you a short time line to restore it and demand all the funds to do so be immediately available. If you have that dinero immediately, then most will do it in a safe community.

    Back in the 80s in law school, I used to drive through the Brush District (near downtown Detroit) and know this house very well. Happily, many houses in this area have been beautifully restored.

I saw some videos a few years back of all the abandoned homes and it made me so sad. It's wonderful to hear that people are buying homes there and fixing it up instead of tearing them down. I love those old houses. ❤

I had a friend who bought a house before it was built and when it was done, there were so many issues. Things put on upside down, not working. I love the character of old houses...they usually have good bones and are solid.

    As an electrician who always tries his hardest to make sure that the house becomes a home for someone, it's disheartening for me how many homes become built only for them to be demolished in like 2-3 years. Glad this one had a different date and was brought back to life.

    My house was built in 1925. I have the original furnace. 98 years old and still kicking it I love when people REVIVE, OLDER HOME's. They have so much character, and built to last forever. I know I've been blessed with my 98 year old home She's 99. Happy birthday my place I call home, raised my son's. I've been blessed

    Old homes like these to me have an inner soul. Cuz those folks who worked on them were artisan craftsman and they put their souls into their work thus doing the same to the homes they worked on. Houses like these are beautiful when made and when old and abandoned. And when rebuilt they are brought back to life again. ❤

    They are such beautiful homes but unfortunately so many have been destroyed. This is a prime example of how beautiful/cool/classic and wonderful they can be. Detroit had some of the most beautiful neighborhoods and manisons in the country at one time.

    Back in the day, these grand ladies were considered mansions. They were built for the automobile company executives. When they sent our manufacturing to other countries, the houses were either lost due to the inability to make mortgage payments or abandoned. It will be nice to see more of these beautiful grand ladies brought back to their former glory! Perhaps an entire block of them! Please continue to post more of these!
