Totally agree, I can't remember his name now, but I followed him through the fall of Detroit around 2008 & his one man effort w/investors & renovation. Between that & different Urbex people, it was pretty amazing the old craftsmanship.

Detroit has such a rich history. It's awesome to see it slowly being restored.

Early 2000’s we’d drive around Detroit and take pictures of these beautiful forgotten homes. I’m so grateful to see them restored and to know Detroit is healing🙏🏼💙

Most of these houses in this area of Detroit didn't have to be torn down, they kind of just fell down. 😂 But yeah, lots of them are fixed up. Detroit is actually full of old homes like this, scattered all over, fixed up and occupied. Am I telling you news, or do you live here also?

there should be a law that forbids demolishing houses which are historical! We have that here in Germany. And people get financial aid when they restore them!

These old homes were pure craftsmanship that stood the test of time. Absolutely beautiful. So many more would be saved but the costs to renovate is astronomical. Thanks to those that can afford it. ❤

Detroit would get a lot more people buying and restoring if they didn't get you a short time line to restore it and demand all the funds to do so be immediately available. If you have that dinero immediately, then most will do it in a safe community.

Detroit is making a comeback . This year the population of Detroit has grew for the first time since 1965. Hearing the motown music and seeing the reviving of Detroit makes me cry because Detroit was once the powerhouse of America. Yall endured

Detroit is the most beautiful city and you can’t change my mind.

Back in the 80s in law school, I used to drive through the Brush District (near downtown Detroit) and know this house very well. Happily, many houses in this area have been beautifully restored.

I saw some videos a few years back of all the abandoned homes and it made me so sad. It's wonderful to hear that people are buying homes there and fixing it up instead of tearing them down. one can only save history by having a law that forbids demolition of buildings which are around 100y old considered historical. In Germany we would not have houses that are from the middle ages if there was not this law!

This is one of the few times u actually see a good story about a house in Detroit. Most of them are houses getting abandoned maybe burned down and then demolished.

As an electrician who always tries his hardest to make sure that the house becomes a home for someone, it's disheartening for me how many homes become built only for them to be demolished in like 2-3 years. Glad this one had a different date and was brought back to life.

You know, people are always shown in movies the bad or ugly side of Detroit "The D", but if you're born and reared here, you know of the better sides. I was born here and will be here up until my last breath of life. There is NO city or people that is like The Great Detroit!! I love, love, love it. And always will!! I'm a senior citizen now, but can still remember playing outside till the street lights came on in my northend neighborhood on Lumpkin St. bet. Robinwood & Grixdale. Such great memories, such great friends and neighbors!! Love Detroit. Ms. Vee❤😢😊

It isn’t always about money, but also a vision and appreciation for history.

Old homes like these to me have an inner soul. Cuz those folks who worked on them were artisan craftsman and they put their souls into their work thus doing the same to the homes they worked on. Houses like these are beautiful when made and when old and abandoned. And when rebuilt they are brought back to life again. ❤

Back in the day, these grand ladies were considered mansions. They were built for the automobile company executives. When they sent our manufacturing to other countries, the houses were either lost due to the inability to make mortgage payments or abandoned. It will be nice to see more of these beautiful grand ladies brought back to their former glory! Perhaps an entire block of them! Please continue to post more of these!

These old homes in Detroit are absolutely stunning when restored. I wish more of them would have been and would still be. I drive for Uber and Lyft in Detroit and I see them often. I aspire to save one myself someday.

I had a friend who bought a house before it was built and when it was done, there were so many issues. Things put on upside down, not working. I love the character of old houses...they usually have good bones and are solid.

Oh! This makes my heart so happy!! We're such a disposable country that we're losing so much of our history. So that's why I'm elated when someone does restore, bring back, & treasure our history.

Mayor duggan of Detroit has been one of the best assets ever to come to the motor City.❤❤❤

Detroit, my mother's beloved hometown. So very glad it's getting it's shit together, getting stronger and RESTORING its glorious past!!

They are such beautiful homes but unfortunately so many have been destroyed. This is a prime example of how beautiful/cool/classic and wonderful they can be. Detroit had some of the most beautiful neighborhoods and manisons in the country at one time.

@kaioiamo1503 They've been destroyed by time and economics. People moved when the factorys closed. They became rented and left behind to fall in. There is no theme.... it is what it is. The shit starts falling down and the city gets rid of them.

I've been watching a few restoration videos of homes in Detroit. The homes were gorgeous, beautiful brick architecture. In its day Detroit must have been a beautiful place to live.

I drove past homes like this in 2010… I left Detroit depressed and disappointed. I’m so glad to see the IMPROVEMENT of this community. 💯👀💅🏾

Seeing that really brought joy to my heart. God bless to those that restored. A beautiful home.

I love to see old homes and buildings restored. These are gorgeous. So many homes and building are setting around going to ruin.

They are absolutely gorgeous restored. If I knew the person who took upon themselves to restore both those houses, I would absolutely thank them.

Love the extra set of windows of each house. Remodeled inside with an upstairs loft.

When I look at these abandoned houses, I see them the way they used to be. Thank those who could see them that way too and restored them.

Our city Detroit has a lot of unique houses like this and I’m super excited to see everything get in renovated,cleaned up and upgraded ..Detroit is very very different than it was 20 years ago!!!❤❤❤

@@gavindaly5731as someone who grew up in Detroit and now lives by San Francisco…Detroit is waaaaayyyyy worse off than San Francisco!! I haven’t seen any area in California that compares to Detroit’s blight and I’ve been all over this state.
