It's MMA, you people gotta shut up about when people want to wrestle and do jujitsu, or just watch the muy-thai and kick boxing divisions of ONE championship. You people are so fricken annoying, STOP COMPLAINING THAT THEY USE A MIXTURE OF DIFFERENT MARTIAL ARTS IN A SPORT LITERALLY CALLED MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. apart from that, yeah I agree Agasa was very 1 dimensional and was completely outclassed in this fight.

I very much doubt that he's a monk, probably just trained at Shaolin or an affiliated school. One in tens of thousands.. they even train foreigners at these same Shaolin schools.. Real Shaolin monks don't have any ambition to be famous/rich/materialistic or to fight in MMA/pro fighting or even fighting in general.. They do the opposite actually and avoid fighting unless they need it for self defense and there's no other option like to run away.. Hurting others for fame/money is the complete opposite of Chinese or Shaolin philosophy and what monks believe and teach. Shaolin itself would not support such actions and no current Shaolin monk would be allowed to or even want to fight professionally even if they were allowed since it goes against all their teachings and philosophy.

Then he isn't really a monk. I have seen videos with these dudes taking kicks to their gonads and not even flinching.

@@JACK.DEATH-SarielI've seen the same videos. That's for mediation, self-discipline, and showmanship (entertainment). It doesn't mean much in real combat situations against real trained fighers in MMA

I have essentially no MMA knowledge, can someone help me understand what was going on around 14:00? When Xie let go of Kim why did Kim remain on the ground instead of getting back up? When the 40 seconds ran out it seemed that he was perfectly capable of standing back up but he chose not to

Xie used a so-called Shaolin shadow technique on him, his opponent didn't realize what was happening to him - but basically he couldn't get up. Thing is that when they do that to you your brain still thinks that everything is fine, and that you are deliberately choosing to stay down, but in reality you are temporarily partly disabled. It won't have any lasting consequences, but the monks - who are the only ones who knows ho to perform it - won't be actively attacking someone for the duration as it goes against their training. You can see how he's just range checking until he suddenly explodes on him as soon as the effect ends.

Just trying to bait him into a grappling match on the ground, where he is technically superior? Xie wasn’t biting though. 😂 Smart way to catch your breath too if you’re a bit overwhelmed in the standing exchanges.

He isn't using kung fu though. If he were, he wouldn't be successful in MMA. He is using the balance and conditioning all that training afforded him, but utilizing pretty standard kickboxing for his actual fighting.
