♿️ Wheelchair users. Never drop things again!

One of the most frustrating things about being a wheelchair user is how difficult it is to carry things on your lap when wheeling in your wheelchair. But thanks to the Lapstacker its like an extra pair of hands to hold items in place.

Something similar here and cheaper. (Infuriating how expensive adaptive equipment and such can unnecessarily be). I'll use a bungee cord with hooks at both ends. One end is attached around back to my frame where the handle bars are. The other end I bring around to my lap when needed. I can attach shopping baskets, backpacks or mostly whatever to carry a load of weight, leaves my lap open and pressure off my thighs. If the cord stretches too much, it can also indicate I'm carrying too much weight for the specs of my manual WC. Hope this may help others who may not want to spend a lot. Have a blessed day...

@@clairerusz2639 I hear your frustration and understand that for some LapStacker is too much for their budget. On the face of it, LapStacker is simple, but underneath it all is 5 years of expensive research and development and significant costs to produce a world-first and high-production quality innovation. After all, disabled people deserve high-quality products too right? LapStacker was designed as affordably as it could be while still being commercially viable. There are some cheaper alternatives you may like to consider. You could try a range of different bungee cords (shock cord, elastic cord), which you’ll need to attach each time you secure a load. Caution is needed though, as they can be quite dangerous and difficult to use, plus you may need a range of sizes to carry everything. You could try and make your own using seat belt mechanisms and devise a way to attach it to your chair. Or you could try a purse strap. Backpacks are also a way to carry things. Hope those suggestions help.

Just checked the pricing out of curiosity- YIKES. It looks lovely and clean but much too pricey for me. $140 with shipping and taxes. To be fair, I'm not the intended audience- I use a rollator. My method for keeping shopping in place on my rollator's seat is a system of MODL Infinity Tools (also pricey, but extremely versatile and imo very worth the price). Essentially, fancy bungee cords, but in my case they go across at about thigh-height to keep things from sliding backwards off the seat when going up an incline, rather than strapping things down by applying downward pressure. For something more like the lap stacker, I would probably use wide elastic straps or maybe some cinched-down paracord.

The lap stacker looks like if would be really useful on both my manual ‘upstairs’ chair and my power hair but the £100 price tag just puts it at a price point that doesn’t make sense for me. The amount of times I have problems it would help just don’t add up to value for money yet. I will keep it on my ‘wish list’ though as things change and I decline further.

If you're interested in the bells and whistles of LapStacker, please take a look at the product specifications to see the thousands of hours of design that have gone into creating a product that is easy to use (even if you have reduced hand and arm function) is versatile, discrete, and fits most chairs with ease.

Yeah, what is with heavy bathroom doors? I hate that. I have armrests, as I have scoliosis, so I wedge stuff in beside me to carry them 😂 I was about to say what Shawn said about the crisps 😂

I so need one. Stuff is always falling off my lap, it is so frustrating. Do you find the hand loops get in the way while your pushing, & how much does the lapstacker weigh? I get frustrated at how much adaptive aids & wheelchairs cost. It's like saying the word "Wedding". Problem is that some people who don't have much money, miss out on things they would like to do because they can't afford these things. That park looks lovely. But that Accessible Bathroom Door needs replacing. These types of doors are way too heavy. It's ok in my power chair. But in my manual chair I get stuck quite a bit. I got stuck the other day looking for playgrounds that I could take my great niece too. They used bark & my power chair tried to dig itself in. Luckily a couple of strong guys were walking past that helped me. Councils need to realise that Bark & Gravel as a base for playgrounds is NOT wheelchair friendly. It's anything but. I can't believe how big Daisy is now. A big Hi from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺.
