WHEEL OF FORTUNE BBS PROMO (1995)

Nice promo from CTV's BBS era
Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. We also hope to create an ongoing oral history of this content through comments left below the videos. Please add to this evolving history, if you know more information pertaining to the clips, fondly remember them or have a modern thought all comments are welcome! 1995 near the end of the old normal world before the internet screwed everything up.

I have to agree. all though I like the internet. I do miss the old way. I was actually thinking. back when I used to call phonelines to find out what happened on the soaps, or getting sports updates, hearing what the #1 song was that week, etc. our news paper, the london free press used to have a phoneline called presto. well, yeah, things were a bit better. but the internet was a bit better befor facebook, twitter, and social media came along. maybe I shouldn't say that, as I'm on facebook alot, maybe that's why I'm saying that, lol.

I'm curious still. how could CTV also be bbs. I thought it was confusing then, and I still do, as a network is a network, I guess it was combind to 2. I remember channel 9 was also bbs. used to listen to Wheel and Jeopardy at school, as all my little tv got was bbs, global, city, and sometimes on the rarely od ocations, I picked up some american stations, as it was just an antenna tv, no cable, and I went to a boarding school, so always would have my black and white in my room at school, so I had a tv at home, and one at school my one at home had cable though lol.

Baton was a chain of stations that purchased programming from CTV, if I'm reading correct. It's almost like drug stores, Rexall is a chain but buys a Canada Post booth, brings in an M&M Foods freezer... BBS and other CTV purchasers could show as much or as little of CTV's lineup as they wanted. CTV eventually was in enough financial trouble that BBS purchased it.

@@NicholasMoreau this makes alot of sense. but, I do miss the old bbs. I actually got it on ctv, but my local london station. which odly enough, is now called CTV 2, as it was bought by CTV. but it's like you said. ctv and ctv 2 have there own programing. but they do share some, but they show them at different times. for example. Dr. Phill would be on at 2 on ctv, then ctv2 would air it at 5. that's prob the same with well, because mine's cfpl tv in london, so channels like what was known as CKVR, then the new VR, and CKNX in wingham would be probably ctv2, not sure. but yeah, in boarding school like I said my little tv did have BBS, so I'd listen to Wheel and jeopardy, which in canada are now on yes tv.
