WHATS IN THE BOX? TAMIYA 60737 1/72 ; AICHI M6A1 SEIRAN. LAND OF THE RISING SUN WEEK. KIT REVIEW 75

Ойын-сауық

I hope you enjoy this video. This is my seventy fifth "WHATS IN THE BOX" kit review and I hope to be completing this model when i have the necessary skills to do it the justice it deserves in a bout 10 years time. I have a model collection/stash of 33-40 1/72 Spitfires which i am currently building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow KZreadrs, As my competence levels are not sufficient to complete this model it will be held in reserve for when i deem the time is right. If you would like to see the of 33 Spitfires there is a link to my collection below. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic KZread skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.

Yes I understand. Yes same here nearly done 109 and almost ready for the I A Spit fuselage to put together. Love the Shiden Video. Can't wait for the airplane kits to be shown altogether as the grand finale finish. Excellent Andy 10 kits in 10 days takes some doing. A full time job ! Thanks again.

A great kit that should be easy to build. I've also got one of these in my stash. At a later date, you may consider getting the Tamiya 1/350 I400 submarine that carried the Seiran. It would look great with the hangar doors open, and the 1/72 Seiran posed next to it. Again, a dedicated canopy mask would be desirable.

thanks Jeremy it was a really nice kit to put together, i think i paid £16 for it P&P included so in my opinion was a really good deal. shame they dont make it any more as it's a really interesting aircraft. If i do a sub though in the future it ill be a U-boat.

Hi Andy. Yet another lovely Tamiya kit. That large cockpit is going to look great if you paint it up right. Thats the only problem with aurcraft with large glazed cockpits , you have to paint them up. The interior is so visible. The float attachment points are the two large holes in the lower wing, the float sponsons plug into them. Its a shame that you don't get the option for the stowed version with its wings folded but I suppose that would mean a more expensive kit. The little carriage ( trolley ) I think would be for when it was on land as I tjink that when they were onboard the sub they would have been loaded in reverse so that they would be ready to launch, and I suspect that they would have been loaded onto their own seperate trolley's. The trolley's would have had the catapult system built into them. That might be what the little chains are all about, this is all of course speculation on my part. But it would have made sense to do it like that. The Japanese certainly did like their floatplanes didn't they ? That must also been one hell of a big submarine, to carry three of them onboard and all of the other equipment that a sub carries. It would have had to carry fuel for the aircraft too and their weapons. It will look very nice when you finish it, put it with your orther floatplanes. The Tony and the Jack look very good now. Your getting there. Soon you won't be able to move for aircraft in your place. I hope that your thinking about storage. I used to have mine on big glass shelves in my room. You will have to buy a duster too. A large soft make-up worked for me. Good luck mate.

There is a pretty good documentary type thing on here about the subs that were to carry these to attack the Panama Canal, the war ended just before they were in position apparently it might be by Mark Felton or Drachinifel, cant remember but you could probably just search under something like Japanese plan to attack Panama Canal.

Hi Andy. A little known fact about the Panama canal is that it is 102 feet wide at its narrowest point. The reason ? The largest America battleships were 100 feet wide which enabled them to go from the Pacific to the Atlantic without going around the southern cape. When the Japanese thought that they had sunk the aircraft carrier Yorktown it sailde through the canal and made it back to port before it sunk. It was back in action within five days. Thats why when it reappeared the Japanese didn't know what ship it was. And that is one of the reasons that they lost the war in the Pacific. The canal was originally started by the French but it was costing them so much that the Americans took it on and finished it. It also cost a lot of lives to build, the majority died from Malaria. Teddy Roosevelt had a lot to do with the canal , he realised its strategic value. It was only recently returned to the Panamanians. Did you also know that the Pacific ocean is higher than the Atlantic. Good luck.
