Dave never expressed support for the Houthis, though. I would understand the claim about whataboutism if he did, but he precisely said he doesn't support them nor the way they treat their people, while also restating that the yemenis have been mistreated for quite a longer time than just after the rise of houthis

Can someone not be happy about the Houthis trying to allow food aid into Palestine but also find them disgraceful for how they treat their own people? Is it possible that the people of Yemen support getting aid into Palestine but do not support the Houthis themselves?

[International] Politics is not about finding morally pure allies, but mostly making compromises with what support you get. Pro Palestinians are not going to care about every aspect of Iranian policy/domestic policy etc as long as there is some support. Same goes to the Iranian people against the Iranian govt who find an ally in sentiment in the Israeli govt. This doesnt mean the Iranian people are necessarily pro genocide or that Pro palestinians are against the freedom of women in Iran etc. Elica uses way too many adjectives and verbose language to paint the pro palestinians in one color when they speak against Israeli strikes against Iran but then is milktoast in comments about Israeli actions in Gaza with pretty much a mandatory "it's sad when civilians die". She accuses others of exactly what she is doing. Not to mention that she speaks a lot but says very little. Regarding the event, Iran has always used proxies in the region; Israel has often conducted strikes far within Iran, Syria and Iraq for years. There is frequent back and forth between Hezb and Israel. The Iranian consulate building strike was during a week support for Israel took a DRASTIC hit in reputation internationally and seems timed to force American committments of suppport and an intentional act of escalation.

The problem is the left has barely ever talked about Yemen during all the time that war was happening. I know bc I was so irritated by it. I don't like the term "whataboutism" but I think you all are wrong and she makes a good case for why we need to look at how the people in Yemen actually feel. I add that we should really care how they feel considering we failed them already not really ever paying them as much attention as we did in other areas. If I was in Yemen I probably would only focus on whats right in front of me. I am not going to be thinking I will accept abuse of the Houthi's bc US and Saudi Arabia abused us too. I imagine the people of Yemen feel more alone than any other people on the planet because the left didn't care about them and now are using the abuse they went through at the hands of US and Saudi Arabia for the excuse its okay they get even more abuse now at the hands of someone else to save some other people but they have never been cared about. Its fine to say that the torment the Houthi's experience is unfortunate but a casulty of war but don't pretend they ever got any real attention from the left when they were a casualty of another war. The left always has a one-track mind.

Why is this woman speaking with an English accent, and, disrespecting that male speaker! Elica needs to clear the wax out of her ears, and, learn to respect other speakers

I comp pretty agree with Elica. The whole thing of go all in or leave it alone with sanctions is truly the only way to change the issues in Yemen or Iran. It’s no different than the any other country in the past. When the people of the country get tired enough of tyranny they will uprise and make the necessary changes. Sometimes it takes hundreds of years sometimes it takes just a few. In the grand scheme of things, the destabilization of the entire Middle East has much to do with the military industrial complex. Not just the US, but the UN.

The problem with libertarians in general from Dave, to Reason, is that they're foreign policy illiterates. Then their opposition are usually too selectively focused, which fuels these nonsense conversations. Hearing libertarians recite the normie garbage narrative about what caused the coup in the 1950s, and then claim The Iranian Revolution was inevitable at that point, is laughable. Saudi Arabia did just decide to go to war with Yemen one day. Yemen had already had their government overthrown internally in a coup after getting rid of their armed forces. A Civil War was already starting. The critique is Saudi Aarabia's handling of the situation, and the USA letting Saudi Arabia lead and do what they thought would work and for their own misplaced prestige which all backfired, despite the USA giving them plenty of open backing without leading in the situation.
