Hello , l would like to update my comment on how alike Tanya's voice sounded on an advert . I have just heard it again on LBC . My mistake it's The Quaker Oats advert and not The McVities. Absolutely LOVED this vlog. The whole #vanlife thing can be so played up, false aesthetics and Insta-lies, whether for the faux beauty or the drama-lama algorithm. But, this is the first vlog I've seen that's real and honest, it's not dramatised or praised to the high-heavens, it just is, and it's just Jits-tastic! It also showcases such an incredible array of clips from your adventures to date! 🎉 xx

With a bigger van, a shower room / toilet space is such a nice luxury (I think necessity ). Just the convenience of not having to take a dump in front of your other half whilst they cook a meal 🤣🤣. Also it means you dont need to park near a supermarket for your morning ablutions as some vanlifers seem to to😉. The space can always be used to hang coats , wetsuits etc

You are the most genuine couple on YT.
Even though Jits is a small campervan, the layout is perfect, and the shower/toilet situation is well thought out. You can comfortably sit and hangout on the couch which turns into a comfy bed. So, for me a shower and toilet is important to have. 🙂👍

As someone with a very small van I have to say I do like the idea of having enough space for a small shower/toilet room. Also the cassette toilet. I have a portapotti but as I'm disabled I do sometimes struggle with lifting the flush tank off the top then putting it back together. But I'm not keen on the idea of the Bivvy loo and the whole single use plastic bags thing... Jits looks like a nice size to drive round easily, but definitely ...snug... for two people! I love your videos though, beautiful photography and editing. Thank you for sharing. ❤
The ups and downs of living in a van are unique, but the most important part is that you are LIVING 😎

Have just found your channel and subscribed. We live in the UK, are recently retired and have bought our first motorhome; tentatively exploring UK at present as we learn. I have watched many, 'what is vanlife like' videos but I have to say I have not seen a more succinct, honest and joyous video than yours! Added to this is the quite superb videography. I cannot wait to dive into more of your content.
Lovely van life vlog guys😊.. Living in a standard house and using a car has the same issues.. but on a bigger more expensive level.. We bought a new house.. .Rats got in under our floors.. damaged insulation, electrics etc 6mth renovation time, 17,000€ cost of repairs. Central heating started to leak just before summer holiday.. new part plus work 1500€ My car.. part of engine brok in covid 2021, causing battery to break as well.. all repairs and battery 2700€. Now motor on eletric blinds in my bedroom have just broken.. next bill in hundreds to thousands, depending on fix 😭. ...this is just to name a few!🙈 Days.. work, kid's, school.. repetition😴. ....all without the new experiences 🧗♀️⛷️🚣♀️, changing views🏜🏖⛰️🌋 and new cutures ⛩️🗼🗽☹️.. BUT... THANKS TO YOU GUYS .. we get to enjoy these things through your eyes😊.... thank you so much 🙏🙏. Your videography is always AMAZING to 😊. One day I hope to have the time, money, energy etc to get back to travel and backpacking which I loved before marriage and kids🤞.
Inspiring and beautifully done as always. Love your style, no clickbait, no dramas - "we quit!" "we're back!"... I hope I can try van life your way one day. Big love from NZ.

@@JitsIntoTheSunset Please do let me know if I can be of any help, if you do decide to come here. It truly is a beautiful country--people as well as land--sort of the Buddhist cousin of India, but compact so you can see many different, amazing places and microclimates here within several hours drive of each other. Anyway, if you decide to come to SL, I'd be happy to answer any questions I could, or even show you around the towns I know. Blessings to you both on your next journeys and thanks again for taking us along. Grace 🌺❣️🌺
I do think a shower and toilet are necessary. But also think it's wasted space. If I were to build a van. I would build a larger wardrobe on rails. That when slid forward, reveals a shower/toilet area that would normally remain compacted. I'd use the extra space to store folding bikes and camping gear to go places the van could not.

Absolutely love and appreciate modula setups like the one you’ve described, Glen. Great idea!! 🙌 And thank you for watching 🥰 xx Tania
Good summary. In answer to your toilet/shower cubicle question I think your system is a fantastic design and would always go for this set-up rather than some porta-potty pushed under the bed, etc. Jits is the most space-efficient design I've ever seen. When you decide it's no longer mechanically viable you could buy a LWB Euro 6 van and transfer as much of the fixtures and fittings as you can. A LWB would give you more room - which it looks as though you need - but the price is being harder to park-up in cities, etc.
@JitsIntoTheSunset
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think you're right! Jits is ideal for us. But like you said, sometimes I feel like I'd like a bit more space. Yeah, I think we're going to basically do a carbon copy of Jits and use as much of the current fittings as possible. Maybe make the bed a bit easier to make up though 😂 🚐 Adam
I am looking at van I can outfit without a bathroom....maybe a shower extension off the back doors for outside and a bucket with a toilet lid and bag inside for easy dumping and only using when other bathrooms are not available. I dont want the humidity that could lead to mold or the clausterphobic feeling. Might be a challenge in winter, but worth the extra space for me.

We also use an onboard portable battery pack EcoFlow River max which we use for all the ancillary charging requirements keeping the vans leisure batteries for van lights, diesel heating etc. the shower and loo are game changers as we always camp wild and remote and we do a lot of activities Running, mountaineering, cycling, kayaking etc so we get pretty sweaty making the shower an absolute must have item. I think u have a lovely lil home on wheels ,I like that u have a shower , cleanliness is next to godliness! I am still shocked to see what u've packed into Jits . I would worry that it is Ur home and car if things go badly wrong ...do u have contingency plan if Jits hits the fan 😂. Love u have a furry friend to share Ur life now . I live in a shepherds hut without any connection to the grid ( being winter I intend sourcing a tap in my field in the spring/summer ) . I use rain water for washing myself and clothes use launderette here and there . I think I shall get solar panels on the hut too . I have 2 jackerys to charge things and use batteries for now for fairy lights . In New Zealand it is compulsory to have a toilet in your van/caravan if you want to freedom (wild) camp. Currently it can be a portapotti or built in. However the law is currently before parliament to be amended so that your vehicle must have a built in toilet (cassette or black tank) that is accessible at all times ie even when the bed is made up. A shower is optional, but you have to carry a certain amount of water per person per day. A good thing about New Zealand is that just about every town/city has a dump station, most of which have fresh water at no charge.

Wow, that's such a good idea! Makes a lot of sense. Putting rules in place to encourage thoughtful & respectful camping is far better than banning it altogether as far as i'm concerned. We'd love to do a NZ trip at some point, I've always wanted to visit! 🚐 Adam

Love, love, love this film! ❤ You managed to capture what makes vanlife so unique so incredibly well, the good stuff and the bad. As for your question, after renting a campervan with a shower cabin, we decided we could do without one when we started our own van build. We did want a toilet and we're so happy we went with a Nature's Head composting one. But as a result, our toilet is part of our kitchen, which we realize is not for everyone 😅 We do have a rotating faucet with shower setting so we can rinse off outside if we want to, but no water heater so we don't use this very often. We get by with washing every day while wild camping and we get a shower in when we can, on a campground or the beach.

Hey Sara and Jurrien! Aww thank you so much for your thoughtful message. It means a lot to know you appreciate our film in this way. 🥰 We always advise people to rent or borrow campers before diving into their own build and you're testiment of why and how this is important. I'm glad you discovered the layout that is right for you... poop in the kitchen and all! 😆xx Tania

Shower and toilet are essential, even if it's just used to hang wet clothes. Adam, don't be too energetic when shaking the cassette: the internal float can be dislodged which means removing the panel above the blade and putting your hand inside to relocate it. Gloves on, of course, but it's an awkward job and not pleasant!

Oooo, wow. I didn't realise that could happen! Thanks Ian. I'll be more careful in future. I'm always just trying to give it a good rinse 😬. I absolutely agree that a wet room is key! I can't imaging living in a van without one 🚐 Adam
This was a very balanced overview of your life, we enjoyed this vlog, thank you. As you said, vanlife gives you the freedom to experience and do so many things, but it's a lifestyle choice, that needs some sort of routine.

@@motherofgrom Hey Rachel! Aww thanks so much for watching so soon after we posted! You know what... that is actually something that we wish that Jits had... a way to extend the shower hose to the outdoors. Hey Chelsea and Mike! I bet 6 months on the road already feels like a lifetime, with van life feeling like second nature. It's funny how van life can do that. Wales is also a very special country (highly underrated we think!), we loved our time there. Have the best time and I hope you don't run into many more troubles with your motorhome. 🚐🤞Thank you for being here 💛xx Tania

It would be amazing if you could boost them! Lovely couple. Love your vlog, we have vanlifed full time for 2 years and don't get bored! It is truly inspiring to see the van life from many perspectives. You bring a really nice unique view of it and the experience as well.
