It's an interesting fact that it was 1972 before a woman could get her own credit card without being married and having the permission of her husband in America.

@kurtis howard I beg your pardon? Women (in America at least) joined the workforce in large numbers during the 1940's when WW II was going on and plenty of women back in 1972 and in the present day, work and are NOT married. Limiting credit card access for people who have jobs and acceptable credit scores simply because they are female is not only unfair, thankfully, it's now against the law.

Well, to default on a loan, you have to have had a loan granted to you in the first place. If a woman is working and has a decent credit score because she pays her bills and is STILL denied a credit card because she is "Female" and unmarried, I STILL say: Limiting credit card access for people who have jobs and acceptable credit scores simply because they are female is not only unfair, thankfully, it's now against the law.

Let’s not forget that in the UK until the representation of the people act become law in 1918 men who did not own property did not have the right to vote. So whilst women got the right to vote 100 years ago men got the right to vote 102 years ago. I have asked plenty of women when they think men got the right to vote, usually they seem to think it was some time in the Middle Ages. Let’s remember that the fight was not between women and men, it was between the oppressed masses of both sexes and the ruling class. That same fight is still with us today it just takes different forms.

That is true, but also doesn't discount the massive gender differences there tends to be, even if there are class differences as well. Only one issue can be addressed at a time, and fighting respectively for equal rights as women can open the pathway to fighting for many other rights. I believe that once everyone is on somewhat of a level playing field can we then move onto the next level.

Thank you for an insightful and thoughtful comment. All these divisions between Americans that we have now - partisan, economic, racial and all the rest - it's only an ongoing effort by the current "ruling class", as you so aptly put it, to divide and confuse issues so that nothing is done in our nation to upset the agenda of the ultra-rich to REMAIN the top 1% wealthiest people on the planet. Best of health to you and yours during the current emergency.

I know a lot of people who are opposed or turned off by these subjects because of mainly one thing--double standards. I wholeheartedly know they exist and I genuinely will fight against them. However in the light that women cannot guarantee paid maternity leave, proper health care and the right to their own reproductive system is NOT a double standard. Paid parental leave also affects men, I do realize that, but the rest are nothing close to double standards. These are basic rights that I will continue advocating for. Our world is not black and white (the colors, not race) so do not let our opinions be either. Fight against general injustice, and sometimes that injustice is deep within the context of someone's situation. I hope you all are faring well in this unknown and turbulent time, please stay safe!

The majority of voters are women so one could ask why women keep voting against their own intrests. Not that i think that would matter since its pretty obvious by now that the political power lie not in the hands of the people but in the hands of the corporations and the latest stimulus bill is just another example of that. A normal person is supposed to save money for a rainy day something that is simply not possible with the low wages Americans earn meanwhile billion dollar corporations with billion dollar profits somehow does not have enough money saved to survive a couple months of economical crisis. The more i see of American politics the more i wonder how they can claim to be the greatest country in the world. From my point of view there is not much great left in the US everything that was such a positive no longer exists the American dream is dead and the politians & corporations took it out back and shot it decades ago.

IN 1895 the women of Massachusetts were asked by the state whether they wished the suffrage. Of the 575,000 voting women in the state, only 22,204 cared for it enough to deposit in a ballot box an affirmative answer to this question. That is, in round numbers, less than four per cent wished to vote; about ninety-six per cent were opposed to woman suffrage or indifferent to it. That this expresses fairly well the average sentiment throughout the country can hardly be questioned. Back then woman dont want to vote.

This was not a real statistic but an editorial by a man named Lyman Abbot, a reporter for the Atlantic. His editorial was published in 1903 and was against the suffrage of women, but nice try trying to pass this off as a real statistic; as a reason to be against the 19th Amendment and women voting by trying to claim that women didn't want that right. That supposition is also wrong, women wanted suffrage or there wouldn't have been a movement for it, if people are not interested in an issue then there aren't going to be any movements or fighting for it, that's just how things work. But apparently they wanted to vote and there was major support of it. But just like the misogynistic men of today, men back then were against women being able to vote and against women's rights. Don't tell lies.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.

If Katie Porter ran I'd vote for her, from what I know of her now. However it has nothing to do with "first female president". Read Emma Goldman's essay on Women's Suffrage. It's a hard read but worth it. And always remember the wise words of Lucy Parsons, "Never be decieved that the rich will allow you to vote away their wealth." The men were treated far far worse by the authorities, many died in the fight The men have to agree to military service as a possibility, unlike women, for whom there are no strings attached and therefore they become less responsible with their choices.. Oh and women are not as principled, rational or logical as men, and so shouldn't be trusted with voting.
