I loved listening to this piece of history! It's kind of nice to see what other holidays Japan celebrates.

So Cubone's name is accidentally a pun, then, since Kyu Bon is celebrated in the Northern Kanto region (mapping the real world onto the game map, this would include such places as Lavender Town) and, interpreting its Pokedex entry figuratively, it's wearing a mask to commemorate its lost loved ones. I say "accidental" because that's only its name in English. Its Japanese name, _karakara,_ is an onomatopoeia meaning "a light clattering."

In India there is a time period called " pritpaksha" when family members make all the food that their parents(ancestors) liked when they were alive and serve it to the crows.
