I have had an Advantage plan for 3 years and have been happy with it. I don’t take any meds and no major healt conditions. Recently I needed a crown at the dentist and there was no charge. $1,000 saved. Gym membership- $600 saved. Hearing test -$200 saved. Vision exam and glasses - over $500 saved. I will switch to a supplement plan once I get older and have more health concerns. Right now I prefer the Advantage plan.

If you live in a State that allows Insurance companies to do an under-writing you may not be able to switch depending on how sick you are at the time you want to switch. I believe most States do an underwriting. Boomer benefits should explain this to you.

The only thing to know is to not choose one. If cost is an issue, choose HDG. If you want comprehensive coverage choose N. Medigap plan G may in the near future be phased out like plan J and F before it. Plus G has higher premiums and rate increases than N.

I personally would NEVER want Medicare Advantage. I don't want an insurance company dictating what Doctor I can choose. If my Doctor wants to schedule surgery for me I don't want to have to get the surgery approved first by an insurance company.

I am new to all this. I will be turning 65 in February f. Going to be forward here. Don't you get the highest commissions by selling MA to your clients? Isn't MA network based? Can you see what ever doctor you want on MA or can you only go to a doctor in the network? What if your doctor accepts MA, but you get referred to a clinic or hospital that doesn't accept your MA plan? Thank you for all you do to help us seniors

Hi there - we are an unbiased agency, so our agents do not get paid more for selling certain carriers or policies. We know many Medicare beneficiaries are unsure about the decision to make, and we want to make sure everyone has access to correct information. Yes, MA plans are network based, much like commercial insurance. With a PPO, you have out of network benefits available, but on an HMO you can only go out of that network if you are in an emergency situation. If your provider refers you to someone who does not accept your plan, you would need to ask if there is another option for you to have care somewhere else.

No thanks on advantage. I don't want an insurance company's AI program determining how long I can stay in the hospital and I wouldn't want to be fighting with an insurance company for denied benefits while I'm trying to get well. I don't need advantage plan "perks". Supplement Plan N and a part D plan is fine by me.

I have an MA plan because of my spouse's retirement plan. The first year went ok. Cost for meds increased some, but not too bad. This year I am going to a 9-week cardiac rehab program that is covered by Medicare, but is denied by my United Healthcare MA plan. It's costing me $11k out of pocket. I wish I'd said no to MA and got supplement plans instead. I don't think it's going to improve as I get older. I'd never get a Medigap policy if I tried to switch back to traditional. We could use some legislation to fix that problem.

We hate to hear that - have you looked into another MA plan that would cover your rehab? the Open Enrollment Period ends on 3/31 and you can review MA plans until then for a 4/1 effective date!

I think you're doing a disservice to your target audience (people just beginning to research their Medicare options) by saying how much Medicare Advantage plans have improved without pointing out all the disadvantages like prior authorizations, limited networks, required referrals, and capitation payment model (incentivizing cutting costs) versus fee for service (medically necessary regardless of cost). Perhaps you intend to cover that in a future video, but you should at least acknowledge they exist so people will know there's another side to the MA coin.

@@BoomerBenefits Would the increase of beneficiaries choosing MA plans be at least in small part due to brokers receiving larger commissions and videos and marketing such as this?

  • @BoomerBenefits

Hi there - Our agents do not work off of a commission based on policies being sold, so for us, no it is not the reason. We are finding many beneficiaries are looking to reduce cost in some areas and find this to be where it is easiest. Since the benefits are increasing each year, we are finding many looking into these options.
