This happens, especially with solid wood guitars. When the guitar is exposed to a very significant change in humidity, wood may become warped. Or shrink when it`s too dry. This can lead both to a simple and insignificant distortion of the soundboard and gaps under the bridge, pointy and sharp fret ends. And if the guitar also has a solid soundboard (like this Taylor), then cracks in the soundboard are almost inevitable. All this is usually repairable, but still, if you have an acoustic or classical guitar of around this or even higher class, it is the owner's responsibility to monitor its condition and humidity. Of course, if there is no desire to drive to your luthier on a permanent basis.
Now it may be a little off topic, but lately I often come back to this fairly common idea that an expensive tool should be more durable. It shouldn't buzz on the frets, shouldn't ever break, and in general, it should play smooth right out of the box and never take it to the tech for tuning (this is all a small mashup of what I have heard over all the years of work). I think that it can be transferred not only to guitars, but I think everyone has caught the essence. Such a way of thinking usually leads to the fact that in some cases the repair can become pricey or the guitar will be unrepairable at all. Based on my experience, I can say that it is better to buy an instrument like the Yamaha F310 (in terms of durability) and not bother at all, because you need to monitor laminated guitars much less, and even if it comes to scrap, a new one will not be a problem.
After repairs like this, I always try to give recommendations for storage and care. I've always liked gluing bridges, and on some guitars it just needs to be done once in a while, but an unharmed instrument is always cool ;)
🇺🇦 Таке трапляється. У час коли гітара переносить на собі дуже суттєвий перепад вологості (або скоріше сухості) з деревом можуть відбуватись певні деформації. Це може призводити і як до простого і незначного викривлення деки так і до відірваних струнотримачів, ладів що царапають руку, а якщо гітара ще й з цільною декою (як от цей Taylor) - то тріщини деки майже неминучі. Все це звичайно ремонтується але все одно якщо у вас акустична або класична гітара приблизно такого або вищого класу то слідкувати за станом та вологістю це обов’язок власника. Звичайно якщо немає бажання возити до майстра на постійній основі.
Зараз буде можливо трохи не до теми але я останнім часом часто повертаюсь до цієї доволі поширеної ідеї про те що дорогий інструмент має бути і більш витривалим. Він не має дзвеніти по ладам, ніколи не ламається і взагалі на ньому можна грати прямо з коробки і ніколи не носити на налаштування до майстра (це все невеликий машап того що я чув за всі роки роботи). Я думаю що це можна перенести не тільки на гітари, але я думаю суть всі вловили. Такий образ мислення зазвичай і призводить до того що з в деяких випадках ремонт може влетіти в копійку або інструмент взагалі буде непридатним до ремонту. Зважаючи на свій досвід можу заявити що краще купити інструмент на кшталт Yamaha F310 і взагалі не паритись, бо слідкувати за фанерними гітарами потрібно набагато менше та і якщо вона прийде у стан брухту то нова не буде проблемою.
Після ремонтів такого формату я намагаюсь завжди дати рекомендації щодо зберігання та догляду. Клеїти бриджи мені завжди подобалось, і на деяких гітарах це просто потрібно робити час від часу, але цілий інструмент це завжди круто ;)
