There should be planned a event at the NRM for Prince of Wales to visit the museum

Originally, the new build was on a GNR J50 locomotive but it got cancelled and was switched to LNER P2 No. 2007 Prince of Wales instead

It will do railtours all over the place, in England, Wales, Scotland. The tour dates will be announced once its steaming and they’ll be on their website and railtours websites

We all want it now. But now it’s only about 1 year and 1/2 away! Hopefully they’ll get the boiler this year then it’s a case of putting together the Jigsaw puzzle of a locomotive together and she’ll be chuffing great!

LNER P2 Cock’o The North was originally going to be built as a replica of the original P2 class in streamlined form with a Gresley A4 and using Gresley motion. But the project was abandoned, so it was switched to the current LNER P2 Prince of Wales instead

No the project isn’t abandoned, it’s still going ahead and the replica & prince of wales are two separate companies, the replica P2 recently started fundraising again and have made some new parts for the replica

I wonder why they never went to a 4-8-4 wheel arrangement? The NZR "K" class mixed traffic locomotive had a grate the same size on narrow gauge 3'6", so there could be even more power, and a more secure ride.

@@teescottageguyproductions it was speed, they needed larger driver's to make sure it was capable enough to keep pace with the Pacific's. so they needed all the space they could get and shrunk the fire box as a result to stuff the 74"in driver's on the frame, but by doing this they lost horsepower and boiler pressure and then engine couldn't steam the boiler to its fullest so it lost speed. But this time thanks to 3d modeling they found the problem and said the boiler was to long and reduced it by 17"in so prince of wales will steam at max psi and another thing the're going to implement interior streamlined steaming to the entire engine similar to what was done to the sar 26 red devil to generate insane horsepower.😉
