Then you are potentially making it worse and disenfranchising yourself and your community. Every vote counts and I know this is gonna sound tired, but you have to choose a lesser evil, but it depends on who you see as being lesser of the two. I suggest you avoid the algorithms and the media and do your own research, look at your personal situation, look at your community and make a determination based on that and where you want to be in the next 5 years. I disagree. Your local vote concerns matters relative to your particular community i.e, property tax, the DA, county sheriff, city policy chief, mayor, city council, property tax and local sales tax, as well as how this money will be spent. On the national level, you are voting for how our tax money will be distributed within, via the federal agencies, as well as policy on foreign trade, military alliances, immigration, and so forth. Republicans supports legislation that support big business and the monied class while Democrats will allow for a social safety net for the working class and the poor.

Hello. I'm the journalist who did this story. I looked at two states: Georgia and Michigan. I ended up choosing Michigan for a couple of reasons, one of which is because it's got an active case happening right now in regards to voters and it's part of the so-called "blue wall" that crumbled and gave Trump the win in 2016. Georgia is NOT a swing state, but it is a mecca that I hope Biden will visit. Michigan is a battleground state which could decide the election in favor of 45. I'm not a Trump supporter, but I will tell you what I do see. The Republicans have been listening to men. They stopped lifetime alimony in Florida. They started mandatory DNA tests after birth, and paternity fraud in Tennessee. Texas and Oklahoma are about to repeal no fault divorces. Joe Biden was the REASON for over criminalizing black men and making crack a federal offense with huge disparity in sentencing, i’m not a fan of either political party, but I understand the democrats are 1000% more dangerous than republicans because republicans are more forthright in their views where democrats have a good PR game and far less scrutinized by the press.

@@duckmercy11 The bigger issue is waste. The Pentagon has failed audits over and over and is far too cushy with defense contractors. It is far too overextended and too prone to mission creep. It is perfectly possible to cut the defense budget while preparing to deal with China and Russia.

You can vote for whoever you want, but there are consequences from not voting or choosing unwisely. If young people don't vote then you keep getting geezers for candidates. Joe may be old, but he did help black farmers, alleviate student loan debt, contribute billions to HBCUs and bolster small business administration programs for minority businesses and government contracts. Trump's project 2025 will end all of that and end the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Do you want to go back to Jim Crow 2.0 in housing, lending, jobs, healthcare, transportation (back of the bus), shopping (black could not try on clothes), restaurants etc?

All these black men voting for 45. Not one person said anything about "project 2025". What's in that program they like, to give it their support?

I'm not seeing a problem with project 2025. It's basically a project to replace unelected civil servants who obstruct elected politicians from doing what they were elected to do and to allow each president to have a core of civil servants who are either ideologically aligned with him or not but willing to carry out the wishes of the voter regardless.

Actually, every vote counts. This vote is going to be down to the margins. Trump's Project 2025 will end the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and usher in Jim Crow 2.0. Surely you don't want to go back to Jim Crow 2.0 or open discrimination in housing, lending, jobs, shopping, eating at restaurants, and staying at hotels. I know Biden is not that exciting, but he did give millions/billions to black farmers, hbcus, government contracts, sba programs and student loan forgiveness (until the SCOTUS stopped the student loan relief). Harris also passed the anti-lynching bill in 2023 after more than 100 years of legislators trying. It IS raining. Trump will end democracy as we know it and shift all power to him. The SCOTUS just made him a king with no immunity and invalidated the very reason this country was founded. Do you really want fascism from someone who admires Hittler like Trump?

The Democrats can't even define what a woman is! There is NOTHING Christian about the Democrat party.

The electoral college needs to be dismantled. Why should anyone bother to vote since 1) The winner is decided by only a few measly states, totally ignoring the results of the popular vote, 2) It seems the option this year is between someone who half the time doesn't even know where he is and someone without the required background to run this country FOR THE PEOPLE and 3) Since only the electoral college matters, should we vote independent or not at all? Seems to me the black votes in the south aren't even in the mix for representation, and I'm a white 71 year old female. If I can see the disparity, I can't even imagine how those closer to it must feel. How do we fix this?

Also, the Senate needs to be reformed or abolished and there needs to be reapportionment in the House of Representatives. The current system of representation is inherently racist because it heavily favors rural white conservatives. Reapportionment and reforming/abolishing the Senate would be more democratic and representative of the actual political leanings of the population. It is unjustifiable and antidemocratic that Wyoming (population 700k) has the same number of senators as California (population 40 million).

The text book way of eliminating the EC is via a constitutional convention with the majority of states voting to ratify the motion....but you and I both know that isn't going to happen given the fact that The Right has gone full Fascist and is doing everything it can to permanently instill minority rule in their favor, but there is a work around via enough states implementing rank choice voting would effectively nullify the EC without technically dismantling it. Some states are working on making this happen as I type this.

It is not hard to introduce a feature that instantly reports abuse (especially towards women). The question is why do tech companies NOT do this?

It’s not about being loyal you vote for whoever they appeal to as far as their needs and interests and if people,want change stop sticking to habits and things you know that hasn’t worked for years so switch and try something and this is coming from a young black man I know many stick to the norm but i always believed if you want change choose a different option than what you have been doing
