In particular we show the difficulty in moving the vacuum in deep pile carpet (an issue related in part to the active base plate on the bottom of the cleaner head). We then highlight that, due to the narrow dust canister, one may have difficulty removing tangled hair or debris from high-up in the canister. We find that the cleaner head struggles with larger debris (like cheerios) on bare flooring and lament that the Multi Floor 2 only comes with two tools. The Ball Technology is great for maneuverability but its bulk makes it difficult to get the vacuum under low furniture and we find the vacuum to be a little on the loud side. Finally, we notice that the unit sometimes sticks to area rugs and note that the powerful brushroll may cause issues should you have delicate carpets/area-rugs.

Great and thorough review. All of the issues you identify are issues I've encountered. As you correctly point out, those issues are not necessarily prohibitive.

I just saw your V8 and V10 comparison BEFORE I ran to Redwood City, Ca. to exchange the V8 animal+ with the V10.... THANK YOU! RE this demo and going over the thick white rug and having it drag over it, this reminded me of Mom's Electrolux. We had wall-to-wall carpets everywhere (which were beautiful and cozy), and the bristles coupled with the tiny steel wheels seemed tough not to mention dragging that vacuum around the house, but she did it EVERY Saturday. She was a super mom!

I bought his vacuum and for the most part I like it, better than my old Bissell. One downside nobody seems to point out, the hose. It is designed to extend but the vacuum suction is so powerful that it doesn't allow the hose to extend. I have literally had it extended, then turned it on and it sucked up the vacuum and knocked itself over. I've learned to deal with it by slinging the hose over my shoulder, but the hose is basically not extendable because the vacuum is too powerful.

@@miagi84 yes. When the vacuum is vertical the brush is off and lower suction is off and it only runs through the hose up the handle. I still love the turning axis and handling and suction of this vacuum. I do thoroughly clean it about every 4 months or so while I watch a movie or something to keep it in tip top condition .

With so many reviews and so many choices, what would YOU purchase for your home that has mostly porcelain tile / hardwood floors with a few rugs sprinkled about? Not SO worried about price. More about having something that lasts longer (worried about battery only that you can't change as they do die eventually). We have 2 hypoallergenic dogs so not too much pet hair to worry about. Fairly large house. Thoughts?

Good to know. We just bought a white shag rug and I was considering buying this for that room and the kitchen which is hardwood... and I always have piece of dog food that needs to be picked up. Don’t like the idea of having to use the wand for every piece of large debris. 👍🏻.. thanks for the review. Helped me out a lot. Didn’t buy this product.

What I dislike about it. It's a Dyson - flimsy plastic, not built to last because Dyson stop supporting and making parts after only 8 years after production. The plastics are so damn thin and bend easily, make a horrible creaking sounds and the handle also bends like a cheap plastic toy. Overpriced. Dysons company ethics stink, a very aggressive company that thinks it's Apple. But basically it's a horribly made machine. Despite Dysons 'tests' it would spin break in a household that is a little heavier handed.

  • @samgod

Ugh, I read a TON of great reviews about great Dysons are and a few about how cheap and flimsy they are. So then I look at the cheaper Sharks. A ton of great reviews but people then complain about Shark's horrible customer service and how their 5 year warranty doesn't cover the most important part: the unit's head. Seems like Sharks are more quiet, quite cheaper, but with poor customer support and less suction than Dysons. As for the squeaky, thin plastic, I'm not sure if it's due to cheap design or if the parts are deliberately designed to have some give and flex as excess rigidity would be more prone to breaking. You mentioned Apple. Fair comparison. I remember the iPhone 5 felt cheap when it was first released because of its overall lower density than prior models. It obviously wasn't cheaply made, but the lower density psychologically felt so.

I hate this vacuum so much. The problem on the carpet, a small dust canister, the dust gets stuck, and I'm not terribly impressed with the ball in helping to turn. It's gimmicky. The very worst is the poor design of the way the hose is curved around in a very small radius makes it clog very easily. I've had to take the thing apart every other time I use it. Some curse words may have been said.

It defies belief that a cleaner of 2019 is no better tha those of yesteryear....a plastic nightmare starting with the noise of the thing....then plastic bits start falling off....then the annoying emptying...the over-design kills the raison d'être of a cleaner.....there's more, but.....I can't go on....
